A short concept video by Berlin-based Hashem Al-Ghaili, a filmmaker and biotechnologist has been making rounds on social media talking about how artificial wombs could be a “safe and pain-free alternative” to have babies in the future. Al-Ghaili came up with the idea of an EctoLife Artificial Womb Facility.&nbsp;

Additionally, the video also shows how the “world’s first artificial womb facility” which is still just a concept, allows parents to produce a customised baby which could be “reinventing evolution” by growing up to 30,000 babies in a year.&nbsp;

“Ectolife allows infertile couples to conceive a baby and become the true parents of their own offspring. It is a perfect solution for women who had their uterus surgically removed due to cancer or other complications,” said the voiceover of the almost nine-minute animated video.&nbsp;

Based on five decades of what the filmmaker calls “groundbreaking scientific research” by scientists across the world, the video claims that it is aimed to help countries that are suffering from a decline in population giving the example of Japan, Bulgaria, and South Korea.&nbsp;

According to the video, the facility will run on renewable energy and house 75 labs, each equipped with up to 400 “growth pods”. The pods would be designed to replicate the environment inside a mother’s womb, in addition to the number of sensors and scanners to monitor the baby’s growth the data for which would be accessible to parents on their phones.&nbsp;

Furthermore, the growth pod and constant monitoring of the baby would also allow parents to know about any potential genetic abnormalities, said the video. However, before the artificial womb, the video shows that an IVF would be carried out by using the sperm and egg to create and then select the most genetically superior embryo.&nbsp;

The short film also shows how parents with an “elite package” will be able to genetically engineer “any trait” of their child from their hair colour, height, skin tone, and eye colour to even eliminating inherited genetic diseases and increasing their intelligence.&nbsp;

“You can edit any trait of your baby through a wide range of over 300 genes”, said the video. The babies would be taken out with a push of a button, with EctoLife providing a “safe and pain-free alternative”. Furthermore, it also said that with their miniaturised version of the product parents would be able to incubate their baby at home.&nbsp;

"16 year old me needed this Disney short before I quit ballet because I didn’t want to be the fat girl in class anymore," one user said on Twitter. Another wrote, "I’m glad little ones will have this. 10/10 for Reflect!"

In recent years, Disney has taken several steps to improve the diversity of its characters in its animated films. Previously, they added a transgender character to their show 'Baymax', which was&nbsp;a spin-off from 'Big Hero 6'. In 2020, Disney’s Pixar released its first animated feature with a Black character 'Soul'.

'Reflect' director Hillary Bradfield strongly believes in body positivity and she often speaks about it in interviews.&nbsp;In a conversation featured at the start of the short film, she said, “It’s a part of the craft to be looking at your posture and checking things in the mirror, so it just seemed like a really good way to put her in that environment where she has to look at herself and she doesn’t want to.”&nbsp;

Population Foundation of India (PFI) works closely with these health workers at the grassroots level and has produced a short film celebrating their exemplary courage.&nbsp;

The film showcases ASHA and ANM workers as they go about their daily rounds in villages and small towns helping their communities in the face of a global pandemic. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The short film was released on Facebook and garnered 4.75 million views within the first 24 hours.

This short film is a sweet tribute to women health workers

The screening of a short film featuring Bhopal BJP Lok Sabha candidate and Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur among others was Monday stopped midway here by a team of the Election Commission and local police.

The film, titled 'Bhagwa Aatankwad Bhramjaal' is centred around the Samjhauta Express, Malegaon, Ajmer Dargah and Mecca Masjid blasts and was being shown to journalists here by an organisation called Bharat Vichar Manch (BVM).

Following a complaint by the Congress, a team of EC officials and personnel from MP Nagar police station stopped the screening, said Inspector Manish Rai.

He said the EC had initially given permission to BVM for the show but recalled it after the Congress complained.

A BVM member, who identified himself as Captain Vikas Pandey, said the Mumbai-based producer-director of the film, Rajiv Pandey, wanted to the launch the short film from MP.

He said the BVM was a social organisation and is not connected&nbsp;to the RSS.

Rajiv Pandey said the film would be uploaded on sites like YouTube soon.

'They are free to show the short film after May 12 when elections for Bhopal Lok Sabha seat gets over.

We lodged a model code of conduct violation with the EC and it promptly took action,' MP Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta said.

'The EC has put off the release of a biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the same yardstick should apply to Pragya Thakur as well,' he added.

The short film contends that Thakur and other 'Hindu personalities' were held on 'cooked up' terror charges by the Congress-led UPA government.

Thakur is pitted against senior Congress leader and former chief minister Digvijaya Singh from Bhopal.

Drawing a comparison between the work of top male and female stars in Bollywood, National Award-winning director Neeraj Ghaywan says that while actresses are making bold choices, actors are still restricted to playing to their established images. 
Ghaywan brought in the comparison at the press meet of his latest short, Juice, which stars actor Shefali Shah in the lead role. The movie is a subtle yet powerful take on the deeply ingrained and normalised patriarchy and sexism in Indian society that has found an easy way into our households, with both men and women being complicit in the discrimination against the fairer sex. 
&ldquo;Our female stars are experimenting a lot more than the male stars. You can clearly see the difference between what the top three female stars are doing, they are doing such different kind of roles, and male stars, who still have to cater to that massy tag of being a superstar. So, that&rsquo;s the difference that I have seen,&rdquo; said Neeraj Ghaywan, known for directing the 2015 acclaimed drama Masaan. 
Shefali Shah also spoke about the improved quality of roles written for female actors that go beyond the age-related stereotypes. 
&ldquo;There are fantastic roles being written. I have to admit that it is changing. There are roles for a Vidya Balan. There is a Lipstick Under My Burkha, a Pink&hellip; So, there are these films, which are women-oriented. When you see Lipstick Under My Burkha, they (the actresses in the film) are not exactly in their 20s,&rdquo; she said.

But the actor, known for her performances in films like Satya, Monsoon Wedding and more recently Dil Dhadakne Do, did add that largely, filmmakers and writers find it difficult to conceive roles for women that are middle-aged. 
When asked her opinion on the dearth of roles for female actors after marriage or motherhood, Shefali Shah said, &ldquo;It is not just after they get married, but even after a certain age, they don&rsquo;t know what to do with actresses. So, either you are an 18 or a 22-year-old heroine or cut to you are a mother of a 30-year-old. They don&rsquo;t know what to do with actors in between that, which is very sad. I don&rsquo;t think it has to do anything with marriage or role-playing as such, I think it is a much bigger and wider discrepancy, which is sad.&rdquo;

Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani calls the movie, India&#39;s first Hindi sci-fi film which deals with the sensitive topic of rising pollution. In a previous media interaction, he said, "Carbon is first Hindi sci-fi film, I don't know if you will like the film or not when you watch it. But you won't be able to say that this movie was an imitation of any Hollywood film. This is our own version." Watch the movie: Apart from Jackky, Prachi can be seen in a lead role. Talking about her experience, she said, "The first time when the director and writer met me I didn't even take a second to think about it. I was actually blown by the idea, just as much as everyone else is going to be when they watch the trailer. She also spoke about the subject as: "It is sci-fi but not in the entertainment space. We aren't going to show you a cool world about fictional characters or superheroes. It isn't anything of that sort. Carbon is about you and me in the real world and what we could face in 2067."
