In the statement, Janice said, “It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies. To bear witness to what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.” 
 
Janice also referred to the 2016 Cassie Ventura assault video in the statement and said, “I am not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in his past, as we all have,” she said. “My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise.” 
 
Janice revealed why she thinks her son settled with Ventura out of court in November last year. “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed,” she said.

She added, “This is why I believe my son’s civil legal team opted to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit instead of contesting it until the end, resulting in a ricochet effect as the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt.” 
 
Ventura filed the lawsuit against Diddy in November 2024, accusing him of repeated physical abuse and rape. Since then, the Music Mogul has been accused of assault by more than 100 petitioners. Diddy has been accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old boy and a pregnant woman.&nbsp; 
 
Janice defended her son regarding the various allegations he is facing, including sexual assault allegations. “Not being entirely straightforward about one issue does not mean my son is guilty of the repulsive allegations and the grave charges levelled against him,” she said. 
 
Janice added, “Many individuals who were wrongfully convicted and later exonerated had their freedom taken from them not because they were guilty of the crimes they were accused of, but because they didn’t fit the image of what this society considers to be a ‘good person.’ History has showed us how individuals can be wrongfully convicted due to their past actions or mistakes.”&nbsp;

According to a letter dated Monday and submitted to Weinstein's attorneys, Chief Judge Janet DiFiore "approved leave to appeal" on August 19.

The letter made no mention of the possible justifications for the decision, and it has no influence on the upcoming rape allegations against him in California.

The court can uphold Weinstein's conviction or mandate a new trial after considering the arguments made by his attorneys and the prosecution. A lower appeals court confirmed the verdict last June, rejecting claims that the Manhattan trial judge committed multiple mistakes that compromised the proceedings.

The threshold for granting a new trial is high, but after speaking with his client in prison, Weinstein was "relieved by this decision," according to one of his attorneys, Arthur Aidala.

Elisabeth Borne, the new Prime Minister, however, has denied any knowledge of the allegations surrounding Abad. She said that "there will be no impunity" in cases involving members of the new government once judicial authorities step in.

However, she failed to mention when during the legal proceedings would the removal of the government official will take place.

Opposition politicians have called for his immediate resignation.&nbsp;

"If I were prime minister, I would tell Damien Abad: 'I have no particular reason to believe the women are lying... While we wait for a decision from the judicial system, I wish for you not to be part of the government,'" said, Socialist Party leader Olivier Faure while talking to France Inter radio.&nbsp;

Sandrine Rousseau, a Green Party politician, has also called for Abad's removal.

Abad, who suffers from arthrogryposis, a rare physical disability that affects muscles and joints has vehemently denied the accusations. He claims that given his disability, he is physically incapable of committing the act.

He said that he had been previously been forced to make it clear that due to his disability "sexual act can only take place with the assistance and help" of his partner.&nbsp;

One of the complainants in her allegations had said that she was unconscious when Abad raped her, however, the minister said that the claim he could "drug, carry, undress and rape an unconscious woman are inconceivable and abject."

Scandal hits Macron's government just days after cabinet's appointment, minister accused of sexual assault

Faulted for its failure to end systematic sexual abuse by a former Ohio State University team physician, the state medical board in Ohio has reopened 91 sexual assault cases against other doctors and medical professionals in the state, officials said Wednesday.

The State Medical Board of Ohio will also review an additional 42 previously closed sexual assault cases to determine if doctors who might have had knowledge of sexual misconduct failed to report it to the authorities, according to a state task force.

Ohio State’s longtime former director of student health services is a focus of the reopened investigation into failed reporting, the group said in a 173-page final report that was released Wednesday.

The task force was created by Gov. Mike DeWine in May 2019 in response to a wide-ranging sex-abuse scandal involving Richard Strauss, a former team doctor at the state’s flagship public university.

Strauss, who died by suicide in 2005, was implicated in the abuse of at least 177 students. His victims included football players, wrestlers and other athletes who had been treated for injuries or underwent physical examinations before their seasons began. He was a professor at the university from 1978-98.

“The Medical Board has made real and meaningful strides toward ensuring that never again would it fail to act when it holds credible, actionable information about one of its licensees, such as it had with Strauss,” the group’s report said.

In response to the abuse scandal, the medical board re-examined 1,254 sexual impropriety cases going back 25 years, the task force said. The board had considered 213 cases for further examination but ultimately decided to treat 91 of them as active cases, according to the task force’s findings, which were reported earlier by The Columbus Dispatch.

The remaining cases had either already been the subject of formal action or been deemed not viable, the report said, adding that eight cases had been recommended for referral to law enforcement agencies.

Officials said that changes were warranted in a state law that, for confidentiality purposes, shields information about the outcome of the medical board’s investigations into sexual assault allegations.

“To provide the public the confidence that a case like Richard Strauss’s will never again go without action, the State Medical Board of Ohio is committed to providing sunshine to board processes and complaint information,” the board said in a January letter to the task force.

The board said there were obstacles to sharing information about cases.

“Finding the balance for transparency, protection of the licensee’s livelihood, patient information and whistle blower protection entails a complicated legal analysis with much stakeholder input,” the board said in the letter. “The board’s efforts for transparency will continue over the next calendar year, and likely beyond.”

Officials also said they were renewing their scrutiny of Dr. Ted Grace, who was Ohio State’s student health services director from 1992 to 2007, to determine if he had failed to report the pattern of sexual abuse by Strauss.

Grace, now the director of student health services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday night.

In a letter sanctioning Grace last year, Ohio’s medical board said that he had been aware of three separate complaints of sexual misconduct against Strauss by three male students and had failed to report them to the board.

The students complained that Strauss had inappropriately touched their genital areas for extended periods during examinations, and one accused Strauss of pressing his erect penis against the student’s leg.

Grace, whose medical license remains active in Ohio, told The Southern Illinoisan last year that “I did the best I could” and he said he had reported Strauss’ misconduct to a university administrator.

Last year, Ohio State said it would pay $41 million to resolve some of the lawsuits stemming from several hundred sexual assault claims against Strauss. The university president at the time said that Ohio State had failed the victims. On Wednesday, university officials declined to comment further.

A spokesperson for DeWine did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday night.

Ohio State’s longtime former director of student health services is a focus of the reopened investigation into failed reporting, the group said in a 173-page final report that was released Wednesday. Mike DeWine in May 2019 in response to a wide-ranging sex-abuse scandal involving Richard Strauss, a former team doctor at the state’s flagship public university. Strauss, who died by suicide in 2005, was implicated in the abuse of at least 177 students. His victims included football players, wrestlers and other athletes who had been treated for injuries or underwent physical examinations before their seasons began. He was a professor at the university from 1978-98. “The Medical Board has made real and meaningful strides toward ensuring that never again would it fail to act when it holds credible, actionable information about one of its licensees, such as it had with Strauss,” the group’s report said. The board had considered 213 cases for further examination but ultimately decided to treat 91 of them as active cases, according to the task force’s findings, which were reported earlier by The Columbus Dispatch. The remaining cases had either already been the subject of formal action or been deemed not viable, the report said, adding that eight cases had been recommended for referral to law enforcement agencies. Officials said that changes were warranted in a state law that, for confidentiality purposes, shields information about the outcome of the medical board’s investigations into sexual assault allegations. “To provide the public the confidence that a case like Richard Strauss’s will never again go without action, the State Medical Board of Ohio is committed to providing sunshine to board processes and complaint information,” the board said in a January letter to the task force. Also read | New York governor faces more serious accusation from the sixth woman The board said there were obstacles to sharing information about cases. “Finding the balance for transparency, protection of the licensee’s livelihood, patient information and whistle blower protection entails a complicated legal analysis with much stakeholder input,” the board said in the letter. “The board’s efforts for transparency will continue over the next calendar year, and likely beyond.” Officials also said they were renewing their scrutiny of Dr. Ted Grace, who was Ohio State’s student health services director from 1992 to 2007, to determine if he had failed to report the pattern of sexual abuse by Strauss. Grace, now the director of student health services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday night. In a letter sanctioning Grace last year, Ohio’s medical board said that he had been aware of three separate complaints of sexual misconduct against Strauss by three male students and had failed to report them to the board. The students complained that Strauss had inappropriately touched their genital areas for extended periods during examinations, and one accused Strauss of pressing his erect penis against the student’s leg. Grace, whose medical license remains active in Ohio, told The Southern Illinoisan last year that “I did the best I could” and he said he had reported Strauss’ misconduct to a university administrator. Last year, Ohio State said it would pay $41 million to resolve some of the lawsuits stemming from several hundred sexual assault claims against Strauss. The university president at the time said that Ohio State had failed the victims. On Wednesday, university officials declined to comment further. A spokesperson for DeWine did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday night.

The medical records obtained and reviewed by HuffPost showed she sought treatment as a victim of sexual assault, as cited by Deadline. 
 
Cohen denied any wrongdoing in a 13-page letter from his attorney Martin Singer to the publication. 
 
"The proposed Story is an outrageous defamatory hit piece, making extraordinarily offensive assertions that my client engaged in heinous sexual misconduct, criminal wrongdoing, and other inappropriate behaviour, which are vehemently disputed and denied by my client," Singer wrote. 
 
According to Singer, Cohen also denied that the woman was unconscious in the director's presence, and claims that she left immediately after the business meeting ended. 
 
This is not the first time that the filmmaker has landed in a problem pertaining to sexual harassment. Earlier this year, Cohen's daughter Valkyrie Weather accused him of a lengthy social media post of molesting her when she was a child. 
 
Weather additionally alleged in the post that Cohen had "raped at least one other woman in her sleep," adding, "I know this because he would occasionally tell the story as an anecdote".
