<p>A nine-year-old school student in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was killed as part of a black-magic ritual to bring success to the school, according to media reports on Friday (Sept 27).</p>

<p>The student was killed&nbsp;at his school hostel earlier this week. Citing the police, a report by NDTV said that five people, including the director of the school, were arrested in connection with the case.</p>

<h2><strong>A black magic ritual</strong></h2>

<p>Citing police sources, the NDTV report said that the accused&nbsp;wanted to kill the boy near a tubewell outside the school. However, as they were taking him&nbsp;out of the hostel, the nine-year-old began to scream.</p>

<p>This forced the accused to strangle the student to death.</p>

<p>During the investigation, items related to black magic&nbsp;were found near the school. The report also said that the accused&nbsp;earlier tried to sacrifice&nbsp;another nine-year-old student on September 6 but had failed.</p>

<p>In a complaint filed by the victim's father, he received a call from the school administration informing him that his son was sick. When the father reached the school, the school director took the child to a hospital in his car.</p>

<p>The nine-year-old's body was recovered from the car.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Congress reacts to incident</strong></h2>

<p>Speaking to the news agency ANI, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief&nbsp;Ajay Rai said, "There are incidents of rape with minor girls, sacrifices being offered, murders and fake encounters - there is jungle raj in the state."</p>
