<p>News reports quoted eyewitnesses as saying Gosai, 60, was shot from close range near his house in the city&#39;s Kailash Nagar area.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The RSS pracharak was shot while returning from the shakha.&nbsp;</p>

<p>News reports, citing CCTV footage, said the suspected killers had recced the area before the killing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gosai&nbsp;was also a district office bearer of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another senior Punjab RSS leader, Brigadier (retd) Jagdish Gagneja, was shot dead by young men on a bike in Jalandhar last year.</p>

<p>Brigadier Gagneja was a senior&nbsp;vice-president of the Punjab RSS.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>His attackers have not been caught so far.</p>
