<p>One of the suspects fled during the search, according to the officials, after assaulting CBI officers. They claim that he is the subject of a second FIR for assaulting agency representatives at the local police station. The CBI has reportedly named several people in connection with the inquiry, including Mahendra Pal Arora, Abhishek Boora, and Mohammed Aijaz Khan of Delhi-NCR, Ravindra Vithal Naik of Belgaum, Karnataka, and Kamalakar Premkumar Bandgar of Latur, Maharashtra.</p>

<p>Bandgar is alleged to have asked Boora, Arora, Khan, and Naik to fix any jobs that needed fixing in exchange for payment of a sizeable illegal gratuity while posing as a senior CBI officer and showcasing his "connections" with powerful people.</p>

<p>The FIR claimed that they acted in concert "with the single ulterior motive of defrauding private persons by falsely assuring them of seats in Rajya Sabha, appointment as governor, appointment as chairman in different government-run organisations under central government ministries and departments," among other positions, for large monetary consideration.</p>

<p>Through its source, the agency learned that Boora and Bandgar discussed ways to exploit the latter's supposed connections to influential people who are said to play "pivotal roles" in appointment choices.</p>

<p>The accused allegedly tried to deceive people by falsely offering them a seat in the Rajya Sabha in exchange for a sizeable sum of money exceeding Rs 1 billion, according to the FIR.</p>

Rs 1 billion for Rajya Sabha seat: CBI busts racket falsely promising governorship, RS seats

<p>Voting for Rajya Sabha seats has begun across six states.</p>

<p>For the 58 Rajya Sabha seats to be filled, 33 candidates from 10 states have been unanimously elected. Voting for the remaining 25 seats is being held in six states: Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.</p>

<p>The Rajya Sabha vacancies next month include 17 from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and 12 from the Congress.</p>

<p>Three nominated members - actress Rekha, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and social worker Anu Aga - will retire in April.</p>

<p>The BJP has filed 18 candidates for the biennial polls. They include Anil Baluni, the national head of the BJP&#39;s media wing, from Uttarakhand and Saroj Pandey, BJP general secretary, from Chhattisgarh.</p>

<p>Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda has filed nomination papers as the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will contest from Uttar Pradesh and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Bihar.</p>

<p>The BJP has also fielded Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot from Madhya Pradesh for another Rajya Sabha term.</p>

<p>Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Mansukh L. Mandaviya and Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Parshottam Rupala will contest from Gujarat.</p>

<p>In Congress, Naranbhai Rathwa and Amee Yajnik will contest from Gujarat and Dhiraj Prasad will contest from Jharkhand.</p>

<p>Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Lekhram Sahu will contest from Bihar and Chhattisgarh respectively, while Rajmani Patel, Kumar Ketkar, Porika Bairam Naik and Abhishek Manu Singhvi are contesting from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and West Bengal, respectively.</p>

<p>West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee earlier said the Trinamool Congress would back Singhvi.</p>

<p>Mahendra Prasad Singh and Bashistha Narain Singh are the Janata Dal (United) candidates for the polls.</p>

<p>Counting of votes will begin from 5 pm onwards on Friday. Results are expected to will be announced the same evening.&nbsp;</p>

Voting for Rajya Sabha polls begins across six states

<p>The Election Commission will hold biennial elections in 58 Rajya Sabha seats from 16 states which are falling vacant on April 2.</p>

<p>The elections will be conducted to fill the seats of the members who are retiring in April- May 2018.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The members retiring from their seats&nbsp;include&nbsp;union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dharmendra Pradhan, J P Nadda, Thaawarchand Gehlot and Ramdas Athawale.</p>

<p>A by-election for Rajya Sabha seat in Kerala will&nbsp;also take place, the seat of which&nbsp;fell vacant after the resignation of MP Veerendra Kumar in December. Kumar&#39;s tenure&nbsp;was to end in April 2022.</p>

<p>The voting for the elections is scheduled for March 23.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The last date for filing of nominations is March 12.&nbsp;</p>
