Gandhi and other leaders had alleged <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/modi-increased-benchmark-price-of-rafale-jets-negotiating-team-overruled-by-mr-56-rahul-gandhi-177594">the price of the Rafale jets were inflated</a> in the new deal signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then French president Francois Hollande. Gandhi said the price of the jets was inflated by as much as three times what the previous UPA government had agreed on with Rafale.&nbsp;

Gandhi had also alleged that that Rafale's India partner — Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence — had been offered a sweetheart deal by the Modi government. The original offset partner had been HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd) but the PSU had suddenly been junked in favour of Reliance Defence.&nbsp;

Consequently, a number of petitions were filed in the Supreme Court asking the court to look into the deal.&nbsp;

The court however said last week that there appeared to be nothing wrong with the deal and that it did not need to be probed.&nbsp;

Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury on Friday moved a privilege motion in Rajya Sabha against Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs &nbsp;Kiren Rijiju over his Facebook post.&nbsp;

Rijiju posted a video clip from the serial Ramayan, which Modi had referenced during his speech.

The Union minister posted a clip of the character Shurpanakha from the 1980s serial. It was later deleted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi&#39;s speech in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday was interrupted by Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury who at one point burst into loud laughter. Modi then urged the Rajya Sabha chairman not to stop Chowdhury, saying: &ldquo;Ramayan serial ke baad aisi hasi sunne ka ab saubhagya mila hain.&rdquo;

Reacting to her laughter, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu asked her not to indulge in such &quot;unruly behaviour&quot;. He also told her to go to a doctor &quot;if you have any problem&quot;.

Modi, however, told Naidu not to say anything to Chowdhury, adding that &quot;he had not heard such laughter since the Ramayan serial&quot;. &nbsp;

The motions will be moved against her over two issues - misinformation on Prime Minister Narendra Modi&#39;s Lahore visit in 2015 and the Bandung Conference.

Congress leader Anand Sharma questioned Prime Minister Modi&#39;s foreign policy and asked the Centre its roadmap on dealing with Pakistan.

Flagging its concern over the deteriorating ties between both the nations, Sharma asked why Prime Minister Modi made that &quot;dramatic&quot; visit to Pakistan and why, till date, nobody knows the minutae of the meeting.

&quot;You were going to Afghanistan and got down at Lahore mid-way; till date the Prime Minister hasn&#39;t told the nation what talks took place. On one hand, you get miffed and cancel talks after Pakistan invites separatists on a tea party, and on the other hand, you make a dramatic visit breaching all protocols,&quot; he said.
