<p>President Solih and Modi exchanged plasantaries upon the prime minister's arrival at Republic Square where he was accorded a ceremonial welcome.</p>

<p>The prime minister also inspected the guard of honour.</p>

<p>Modi, who is scheduled to reach Hazaribagh at 2.30 pm, will also inaugurate the newly constructed building at the Women's Engineering College in Ramgarh district.</p>

<p>He will inaugurate one rural water supply scheme for Ramgarh and three for Hazaribagh besides a sewage treatment plant and 'Madhusudan Ghat' under Namami Gange - National Mission for Clean Ganga programme.</p>

The public will decide the agenda, who is for the aspirations of the people, who is against the aspirations of the people. This is going to the yardstick for the elections."</p>

<p>Ridiculing the coalition sought to be formed by some anti-BJP parties, he said, "the public knows that earlier it was decentralised corruption, those who sat in the states, looted the states, those who were in the Centre, looted at the centre... The people will decide whether or not they should ally with these forces of corruption who are coming together."</p>

<p>The Prime Minister's attention was drawn to the "180 club" claim by some sections, inferring that the BJP might not get more than 180 seats in the Lok Sabha polls.</p>

<p>In his response, he said, "Is there any scientific study? In 2013 too, the same set of persons used to talk the same thing about BJP getting less than 180 seats. That narrative continues."</p>

<p>He went on to add, "If they do not spread such things, how will people join their 'gathbandhan'? They will have to talk big to attract people."</p>

<p>Asserting that BJP has no reason to "mistrust the intelligence of the common man", Modi said, "I keep telling all political pundits let us trust the common man`s intelligence. After all, what did the common people experience from this government that they will go away from us? I have faith in the public, their intelligence."</p>

<p>Attacking the anti-BJP parties who are trying to firm up an alliance, he said there is no unity among them in any way, nor any joint articulation about what they would do for the country.</p>

<p>To press his point, he said if media reports of last five years are analysed, there is nothing concrete that the 'gathbandhan' has said or done unitedly.</p>

<p>"They still speak in different voices. Who are these people? They are looking for each other`s support to save themselves... They hold each other`s hand, so that they are saved. That is the game," Modi said.</p>

<p>"Their single point agenda is Modi, do this to Modi, do that to Modi...There is no articulation on what they would do for the nation and why they will do it," the Prime Minister said.</p>

<p>He said the anti-BJP coalition had failed already during its experiment in Telangana Assembly elections and local polls in states like Assam and Jammu and Kashmir." At the top, these (coalition) leaders may get together for their safety but that does not mean that public is joining them," Modi said.</p>

<p>PM Modi's attention was drawn to allegation by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu that the efforts being made by Telangana Chief Minister and TRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao to form an alliance has the blessings of Modi.</p>

<p>"I am not aware that some coalition is being made by KCR," Modi replied.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Prime Minister was also asked about the unhappiness expressed by some of the BJP allies, like Shiv Sena, from time to time and whether they were indulging in "muscle flexing".</p>

<p>His attention was particularly drawn to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray's apparent attack on him when he said that `chowkidar chor hai (guard is the thief), echoing Rahul Gandhi's oft repeated line of attack on Narendra Modi.</p>

<p>In his response, he said, "Sometimes, some expectations are not met" and some allies feel that they "could benefit by putting pressure" on the BJP.</p>

<p>"Some (allies) feel that such issues could be resolved through discussions.... But our effort is to take everyone along and listen to everyone," Modi added.</p>

<p>He emphasised that he was "committed to give importance to regional aspirations" as he believes that the country cannot be run by ignoring regional aspirations. "That is why BJP is more successful."</p>

<p>The Prime Minister noted that the BJP, despite getting full majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, took every ally along, adhering to the coalition dharma.</p>

<p>"Even today when we run the government, there is consensus in decision-making," he said. "It is true that states have their own level of politics. Our allies wish to grow and we too want them to grow. We do not want that we should grow at the cost of allies," Modi added.</p>

<p>Making a comparison with the Congress, he said "it is speciality of Congress-led alliance that all allies are those who have come out of the Congress after raising their voice against the Congress or emerged because of Congress-opposition. So when they approach the Congress, Congress usurps them. We are different. Those who associate with us, they prosper. So our effort remains that our allies blossom."</p>

<p>Asked whether he expected more parties to join the NDA, Modi said that process has been continuing since 2014 and referred to the small parties of North East which had joined the BJP-led coalition.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani's bold initiatives towards peace and expressed hope that it will be respected by all parties, referring to a ceasefire announced by the Afghan leader for Eid.</p>

<p>Speaking at the restricted session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Qingdao, Prime Minister Modi also promised that India will play an active role in the contact group for Afghanistan under the SCO banner.</p>

<p>"Afghanistan is an unfortunate example of the effect of extremism and terrorism. I hope the bold initiatives towards peace taken by President Ghani will be respected by all parties," Modi said at the summit, also attended by Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain.</p>

<p>Modi was referring to the Afghan government's surprise announcement of the week-long ceasefire with the Taliban for Eid.</p>

<p>The ceasefire will last from the 27th of Ramadan until the fifth day of Eid-al-Fitr, President Ghani had tweeted last week, indicating it could run from June 12-19.&nbsp</p>

<p>Responding to Ghani's announcement, the Taliban on Saturday announced the suspension of fighting for the first three days of Eid - the first ceasefire by the militant group in Afghanistan since the 2001 US invasion.</p>

<p>India and China have agreed to undertake a joint economic project in Afghanistan. They have agreed to move forward in identifying a specific project initially in the area of capacity building in Afghanistan.</p>

<p>This will be a first such project in the war-torn country where China while trying to expand its influence, has tacitly backed Pakistan, which has been accused by Afghanistan and the US of backing the Taliban and its most violent attacks in the country destabilising any attempts to restore peace.</p>

<p>Since 2002, India has committed $ 2 billion to the socio-economic rebuilding of war-torn Afghanistan.</p>

PM Modi praises Afghan President's bold initiatives towards peace

<p>Ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Qingdao in China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday.</p>

<p>The second day of the 18th SCO summit began with a welcome ceremony and a group photo of leaders of the eight SCO member-states.</p>

<p>Thereafter the SCO members are scheduled to attend a session restricted only to SCO members.</p>

<p>After this, a plenary session will take place after the signing ceremony and a joint press conference.</p>

<p>In the evening, PM Modi will depart for Qingdao Liuting International Airport and emplane for AFS Palam, where he will reach around 10 in the night.</p>

<p>The Prime Minister is on a two day visit to China to attend the SCO Summit where India is participating as a full member for the first time. India along with Pakistan became the permanent members of the SCO last year.</p>

<p>A day before PM Modi participated in the delegation-level talks with other members of the SCO at Anren Hall in China's Qingdao city on the sidelines of the summit. He also met General Secretary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Rashid Alimov.</p>

<p>PM Modi also held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the port city, where the two leaders took stock of the progress in the implementation of decisions they had taken at their first informal summit in Wuhan.</p>

<p>During the Summit scheduled for &nbspSunday, the leaders of the member states will sign the Qingdao Declaration and some other agreements on security, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.</p>

<p>The leaders will also analyse international and regional security situations and discuss measures to boost cooperation.</p>

<p>The SCO was founded at a summit in Shanghai in 2001 by the presidents of Russia, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.</p>

<p>Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Qingdao, where they will take stock of the implementation of decisions taken at the informal summit just over a month ago in Wuhan.</p>

<p>Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday announced to host the 2018 Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit.</p>

<p>During his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nepali Prime Minister said Nepal will hold the BIMSTEC summit while expressing commitment towards building the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal initiative.</p>

<p>As informed by Foreign Minister Vijay Gokhale in a press conference, both the Prime Ministers talked of bilateral economic ties and building strong bilateral relations in future.</p>

<p>The BIMSTEC is an international organisation of seven nations of South Asia and South East Asia, including Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan, and Nepal.</p>

<p>They further held discussions on other bilateral initiatives jointly undertaken by both countries.</p>

<p>Further, the two leaders agreed to "bridge the commitment implementation gaps" between two countries.</p>

<p>He extended his gratitude toward Nepal`s government for their hospitality.</p>

<p>KMC will also present a special gift to Modi along with the letter of felicitation printed on traditional painting. The reception will be organised at City Hall here.</p>

<p>A grand welcome gate decorated with national flags of Nepal and India as well as posters of Oli and Modi will also be installed near the venue.</p>

<p>KMC has already started work for beautification of different places in the city ahead of Modi's visit. Some of the works being carried out by KMC include blacktopping major roads, painting city walls and planting new flowers and shrubs along major routes.</p>

<p>Prior to his arrival in Kathmandu, Modi will visit Janaki Temple in Janakpur situated in southern Nepal and Muktinath Temple situated in Mustang district of northwest Nepal on Friday.</p>

<p>In Janakpur, the provincial government will separately organise a civic reception in honour of Modi before he flies to Mustang and Kathmandu.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Modi will travel to China on April 27 for an informal summit with President Xi in the central China's Wuhan city.</p>

<p>"Both sides have agreed not to sign an agreement or release any joint document but reach important consensus to resolve outstanding issues," Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou told the media here on the two-day summit.&nbsp</p>

<p>This informal summit is the first of its kind and there is no precedent in each other's country, he said, explaining why both the leaders opted to hold the summit.</p>

<p>"At the informal summit, the two leaders will have heart-to-heart discussions on overarching issues and try to build mutual trust and consensus to resolve outstanding differences," Kong said.</p>

<p>Asked whether the Doklam issue and the boundary dispute will figure in the talks, Kong said Doklam happened because of lack of trust.</p>

<p>"The two countries need to create conditions and trust between them to resolve the boundary issue," he added.</p>
