The autopsy report of &nbsp;Shraddha Walkar&nbsp;murder case, who was killed by her partner Aaftab Amin Poonaawalla, has revealed that her body was cut into 35 pieces with a saw-like object, reports ANI news agency.

The police on January 4 said that they found samples of hair and bones from a forest area in South Delhi's Mehrauli area which matched with Shraddha's.

The recent development has been pegged to be significant for the police as it will enable them to file a chargesheet against Poonaawalla.

Earlier, the police were finding it difficult to prove scientifically of Shraddha’s body being chopped off by her boyfriend. Also, the weapon was unknown.

The police sent the mitochondrial DNA report&nbsp;of the samples found in the forest area to the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting Diagnostic (CDFD) in Hyderabad. &nbsp;The sample had matched that of the victim's father and brother, the Delhi Police said.

The next course of action for the Delhi Police would be to file a chargesheet in the regional Saket Court in the national capital against the accused, along with the 164 recorded statements of the witnesses, including over 50 friends of Shraddha.

The grisly murder case of 28-year-old Shraddha made the headlines in November after the issue first came to light. The nature of death in New Delhi caused outrage across the nation.&nbsp;The murder took place on May 18 2022, but it came to light only six months after her father lodged a missing persons report.

According to police, Aaftab chopped Shraddha's body,&nbsp;and preserved it in a refrigerator before disposing of the remains at different locations in and around Delhi, at night-time over the next 18 days.

It is claimed that Aaftab had a fight with Shraddha, a few hours before the murder occurred.

The Delhi Police revealed on Thursday that some of the body parts found in forests in Mehrauli and Gurugram belonged to Shraddha Walkar. The DNA sample of the bone fragment that police were examining matched that of Shraddha's father. In an interview with ANI news agency, Special Commissioner of Police Law and Order, Delhi, Sagar Preet Hooda stated that they have received the DNA and polygraph test findings from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). "Police have received DNA and polygraph test reports from Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). These reports will help us further in the investigation," Hooda said.

The police also stated that the corpse parts will be sent for post-mortem testing. The investigation is now underway. The senior officers investigating Shraddha Walkar's atrocious murder by her live-in lover Aaftab Poonawala feel the results will be critical to the probe.

Poonawala was arrested last month and is presently being held in Tihar jail based on his confession of murdering Walkar and slicing her body into 35 pieces for disposal. Poonawala, on 9 December, appeared in court via video conference, and his judicial detention was extended for another 14 days. The Mehrauli forest yielded 13 decaying bones and part of a jaw that was thought to belong to the 27-year-old Shraddha.&nbsp;

According to ANI sources, FSL is required to submit the results of Aftab's polygraph and narco test. Aaftab Poonawala's narco analysis test was performed on 1st December at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini. Vikas Walkar, Shraddha Walkar's father, has requested for death penalty to&nbsp;the accused Aaftab Poonawalla. Vikas said that "Shraddha would have been alive" if the Vasai Police had assisted him on time. However, he stated that the Delhi Police had guaranteed his family that justice would be done.

In his first comments since he was provided with Y category security by the government earlier this week, Poonawalla told 'The Times' in an interview about receiving aggressive calls from some of the most powerful people in India, demanding supplies of Covishield -- the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine that the Serum Institute is producing in India.

That pressure is largely behind his decision to fly into London to be with his wife and children, the 40-year-old entrepreneur had said.

The businessman indicated in the interview that his move to London is also linked to business plans to expand vaccine manufacturing to countries outside India, which may include the likes of the UK.

Last week, SII announced a cut in the price of the jab it plans to sell to states to Rs 300 per dose from the earlier Rs 400.

The price cut came after widespread criticism of its pricing policy as it had sold the initial doses of Covishield to the central government at Rs 150 per dose.
