Delhi's Patiala House Court on Thursday rejected all petitions of the convicts in&nbsp;Nirbhaya gangrape case&nbsp;who sought a stay on their execution scheduled for March 20.

At exactly 5.30 am on Friday the four men -- Mukesh Singh, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Vinay Sharma -- will be hanged simultaneously inside jail number 3.&nbsp;

Court says there is the limited scope of judicial review and it finds no reason to interfere with the President's decision.

Earlier, Delhi Court had reserved the order on the plea of convicts seeking a stay on execution due to pendency of various applications in different legal forums.&nbsp;

Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana told the public prosecutor that second mercy pleas of two convicts - Akshay Kumar Singh and Pawan Gupta, were not to be taken up as the first one was taken and considered on merit.

Nirbhaya case: Day before scheduled hanging, Supreme Court dismisses curative petition filed by Pawan Gupta

Pawan Gupta, one of the four death row convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, on Friday filed a curative petition before the Supreme Court seeking to have his death sentence commuted to life imprisonment.

Gupta is the fourth convict in the case to file a curative petition.

This comes as a fresh death warrant has been issued for the four death row convicts -- Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh Singh -- in the case for their hanging at 6 am on March 3.

The family of the victim has on several occasions accused the defence of using delay tactics by separately filing the curative, special leave and mercy petitions.

The Delhi High Court has ruled that according to existing laws, the convicts cannot be executed separately.

Which means that as long as even one of them has a legal remedy at his disposal, the hanging of the four cannot take place.

Meanwhile, the apex court has slated for March 5 hearing on a petition, filed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, seeking directions to execute the death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case separately.

The case pertains to the brutal gang rape and killing of a 23-year-old paramedical student in a moving bus on the night of December 16, 2012, by six people including a juvenile in Delhi.

A special bench of the Indian apex court hearing the plea of convicts awarded death in the case has decided to sit two hours beyond its working time to ensure speedy disposal of the case that has been pending in the court for more than two years. 
 
The convicts Vinay Sharma (23), Akshay Thakur (31), Mukesh (29) and Pawan Gupta (22) were awarded death sentence by a trial court in September 2013 and six months later the Delhi High Court upheld their conviction and sentence. All the convicts then approached the Supreme Court which in 2014 had stayed their execution and the matter is pending in the top court since then. 
 
The Delhi High Court had upheld their conviction and award of death penalty by terming the offence as &#39;extremely fiendish&#39; and &#39;unparalleled in the history of criminal jurisprudence&#39; and said the exemplary punishment was the need of the hour. 
 
Though arguments started in April before a three-judge bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra, arguments will have to be made afresh since the combination of judges in the bench has been changed. 
 
The bench comprises Justices Dipak Misra, C. Nagappan and Ms. R. Banumathi.
