A terrorist has been killed while another has surrendered during a joint operation of security forces in Meej Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The Jammu and Kashmir police said that an unidentified terrorist was killed in the encounter while another surrendered after security forces convinced him to leave arms.&nbsp;

The fresh surrender has brought the number of terrorists surrendering in recent months to five. When the encounter erupted, two civilians were injured during the exchange of fire;&nbsp;one among those later succumbed to his injuries. The slain has been identified as Abid Nabi from the Pampore area while the other injured is undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger.

The J&amp;K police and the Indian Army, of late, have started a surrender policy for the local youth, where parents of the trapped militants are called to the encounter site to convince them to surrender. This year, alone, security forces have killed around 200 terrorists which included both local and foreign. &nbsp;&nbsp;

A soldier was today injured in the exchange of fire between Indian security forces and militants holed up inside a government building in the Pampore area of Kashmir, in India which had witnessed a suicide attack in February this year.

Two to three militants are believed to have entered into the building of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) in the wee hours today.

&quot;One soldier has been injured in the exchange of fire with militants holed up inside the building at Pampore,&quot; a defence spokesman said.

He said further details were awaiting as the operation was in progress to flush out the militants.&nbsp;A building within the premises had caught fire this morning, a police official said.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, but they were not allowed to enter the building due to security reasons, the official said.&nbsp;Militants had targeted the EDI building in February this year as well.

Two soldiers, including an officer, a civilian employee of the Institute and three militants, were killed in that operation that lasted 48 hours.
