The ruling AIADMK Wednesday sacked its coordinator and Tamil Nadu deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam's brother O Raja from the party for alleged anti-party activities.

The party welcomed the action, saying it showed that the leadership would not tolerate any indiscipline, irrespective of the person's status.

The decision to sack Raja, a former panchayat body chief hailing from Theni district, was announced by Panneerselvam and Joint Coordinator K Palaniswami.

Palaniswami is the Chief Minister of the state, while Panneerselvam is his deputy.

Raja's sacking came hours after he took over as the district chief of a milk producers' union in Madurai.

The two leaders, in a short statement, said that Raja has been sacked from all posts, including the AIADMK's primary membership.

The action was taken "for going against the party's policies and bringing disrepute to it," they added.

"From today onwards, Raja is being removed from all posts, including the primary membership," they said.

Raja had violated party discipline, the two leaders said and urged AIADMK workers not to have any contact with him.

Meanwhile, Jayakumar said that the action against Raja would serve as a warning to anyone who tries to go against the party, which was a "disciplined" organisation.

"When somebody does anti-party activities in a disciplined organisation like the AIADMK, they have to be sacked. There is no place for sibling relationship here," he said, responding to reporters' queries about Panneerselvam acting against his younger brother.

"It is a welcome thing that action has been taken by (Panneerselvam) despite Raja being his younger brother...This will be a lesson for others too," he added.

The chief minister and his deputy "have made it clear" that anyone who goes against the party would face action, he said, adding, that was evident from today's move.

Jayakumar, state Fisheries Minister, however declined to reveal what kind of alleged anti-party activity Raja had done that warranted his expulsion.&nbsp;

The Commission has demanded a quick and appropriate action in the matter.

The police had also arrested Sukesh Chandrashekhar, the middleman alleged of striking a deal of Rs. 50 crore to help the AIADMK faction keep the &#39;two leaves&#39; poll symbol.

The development came after the Delhi Police Crime Branch recovered approximately Rs. 1.3 crore and two luxury cars, a BMW and a Mercedes, from Chandrashekhar.

Dinakaran&#39;s faction contested on the hat symbol for the R.K. Nagar assembly by-polls after the Election Commission froze their &#39;two leaves&#39; symbol acknowledging the split in the party.

With the two warring factions of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu&#39;s ruling AIADMK party, headed by caretaker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala, refusing to blink, all eyes are on governor Vidyasagar Rao&#39;s next move.

Edapaddi K Palanisamy, who was elected as the legislature party leader by Sasikala loyalists, called on the governor again on Wednesday, staking his claim to form the government. Immediately after he left, Panneerselvam reached the Raj Bhavan with his supporters.

After the meeting with the governor, fisheries minister D Jayakumar of Sasikala camp said Palanisamy had the support of 125 MLAs. &quot;We are hoping that the governor will call us to form the government at the earliest. We have given him a list of 125 MLAs supporting him. We hope the governor uphold the democracy and the Constitution,&quot; he told reporters after meeting the governor.

However, Panneerselvam, who met the governor later, did not meet the press. Later, he along with his supporters held a closed-door meeting in his house. Panneerselvam, who has been offered support by only 10 MLAs so far, has been insisting that he would prove his majority on the floor of the House.

There has been no official word from Rao, who, on Monday, was advised by attorney general Mukul Rohatgi to convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly within a week for holding a composite floor test.

On Wednesday, Koovathur police registered a case against Sasikala and her supporters on charges of kidnapping and illegally confining party MLAs at a resort following a complaint filed by Madurai South MLA Saravanan, who escaped from the resort to join the OPS camp.

Following the legislator&#39;s complaint, Northern region IG Senthamarai Kanan and Kancheepuram district SP J Mutharasi entered the resort and began inquiries with the MLAs who denied the charges.

Ahead of leaving for Bangalore to surrender before the court following the Supreme Court verdict in the wealth case, Sasikala on Wednesday reinducted her close relatives TTV Dinkaran and S Venkatesh into the party, five years after their expulsion by late Jayalalithaa.
