<p class="MsoNormal">As per the directive issued by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), it will now be compulsory for all news channels to flash Pakistan’s political map for at least two second before the 9 pm new bulletin begins.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">This decision has been justified by the Pakistan government as the country's information and broadcasting minister claimed the government holds the right to issue this directive under the Section 5 of the Pemra Ordinance 2002.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The section mentioned by Fawad Chaudhary states that 'the federal government may as and when it considers necessary, issue directive to the Authority (Pemra) on matters of policy, and such directives shall be binding on the Authority, and if a question arises whether any matter is a matter of policy or not, the decision of the federal government shall be final', according to local media reports.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Pakistan’s new map was revealed last year&nbsp;and Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered that this new map will be treated as the 'official map'&nbsp;for all federal, government and teaching purposes. Khan had also stated that the map has been approved by the federal cabinet and the leaders of the country.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p>The new map claims that the entire territory of India's Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat's Junagadh is a part of Pakistan, and also labels Jammu and Kashmir as 'Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir'. </o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p>The diktat to channels didn't go down with some Pakistani journalists. Some of them trolled the government online.</o:p></p>

<p>Pakistan has banned social studies books in private schools in Punjab province for showing Kashmir as a part of India in the map of Pakistan printed on them.&nbsp</p>

<p>The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), a government body, also lodged a complaint with Lahore police for registration of a criminal case against the administration of the private schools and publishers of the books for committing a 'grave mistake'.&nbsp</p>

<p>All the district executive officers of the province have been directed to confiscate all these books from the warehouse of the private schools.&nbsp</p>

<p>PCTB Managing Director Abdul Qayyum issued a notification yesterday banning the books on social studies in private schools across the Punjab province with immediate effect.&nbsp</p>

<p>"The books on social studies for Grade II, IV, V, VII and VIII have controversial/objectionable contents, especially with reference to the map of Pakistan" showing Kashmir part of India, the notification says.&nbsp</p>

<p>To stop such mistakes in the future, the board says, "No person shall, except with the prior approval of the board, print, publish, sell or prescribe in an institution any textbook or supplementary material."</p>

<p>The notification also states that the board shall not approve printing, publication or sale in an institution of any textbook or supplementary material which contains anything repugnant to the injunctions of Islam or contrary to the integrity, defence or security of Pakistan or any part of Pakistan, public order or morality.</p>
