The IMF official highlighted the need for Pakistan to exit from the FATF grey list ahead of the final review of the 27-point implementation plan by the FATF Plenary and the review of Pakistan's Mutual Evaluation by the Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering.

'The IMF has an obligation to make sure that countries have legal, regulatory and financial frameworks that are compliant with the FATF`s AML/CFT regulations and this decision had been taken by the IMF`s Executive Board a few years ago' Sanchez said.

She also added that Pakistan had shared full details of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) loans with IMF.

"Local communities got completely sidelined by the national decision-makers", said Dr Siegfried O. Wolf, Director of Research at South Asia Democratic Forum (SADF). There is widespread condemnation by the locals in Pakistan and Gilgit Baltistan of the multibillion-dollar development project.

"As such it does not come as a surprise, that the locals have to share most of the social, economic as well as environmental costs but at the same time get deprived of their fair share of the expected/envisaged revenues," Wolf said.

"Since the decisions regarding projects are exclusively done by the central government in coordination with China's leadership, the CPEC projects do not address local demands and needs," he added.

CPEC is a dream project Chinese President Xi Jinping as it will provide China easy access to the EU market.

"China spends tremendous efforts and money in public diplomacy to influence the opinions in media, academia, business circles and among political decision-makers in BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) as well as in non-BRI countries.&nbsp;However, one can also state that there is an increasing number of critical voices and reports on the<a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/pakistan-attaches-great-importance-to-projects-taken-under-cpec-imran-khan-229067"> </a>CPEC and other BRI projects<a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/pakistan-attaches-great-importance-to-projects-taken-under-cpec-imran-khan-229067">, </a>indicating that these Chinese influence measures are only partly successful and losing their efficiency," Wolf further said.

In Pakistan, the locals are unhappy as it has not only displaced thousands of them but has also exploited their land and resources.

"The CPEC will lead to tremendous economic distortions in Pakistan, disadvantaging domestic entrepreneurs vis-a-vis Chinese companies and Pakistani military businesses. Large segments of local communities will suffer from negative impacts on their traditional livelihoods due to increasing environmental problems and displacements," he added.

"We will most likely witness a deterioration of the security situation due to an increase in growing militant resistance against the CPEC, as well as anti-Chinese activities conducted by domestic and international Jihadi groups in order to harm Beijing's interests and assets abroad," the researcher also said.&nbsp;

"The subsequent growing militarisation of areas dedicated to CPEC projects will lead to an increase of human rights violations and further truncation of political rights, freedom of the press and free expression of opinion. In consequence, the CPEC is turning into another threat for democracy in Pakistan," Wolf warned.&nbsp;

India has rejected the proposal of partial <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/pakistan-proposes-consular-access-to-kulbhushan-jadhav-with-riders-239957">consular access for Kulbhushan Jhadav</a> given by Pakistan.&nbsp;

Calling Islamabad to provide full consular access for Jhadav, India in its response sent on Thursday evening asked Pakistan to provide "unimpeded consular access" in an "environment free from the fear of intimidation and reprisal, in the light of the orders of the International Court of Justice(ICJ)", according to the government sources.

Pakistan sent its proposal on July 30 but it had two riders--one that Pakistani security personnel will be present in the meet and there will be CCTV cameras present in the room.

According to the Vienna Convention, article 36, "Consular officer shall be free to communicate with nationals of the sending State and to have access to them" and the fact a Pakistani officer will be present means Pakistan is contravening the convention.&nbsp;

The Pakistani proposal had suggested a meet between Indian diplomat with Jadhav on Friday at 3pm, which will not take place now.

Pakistan spokesperson Mohammad Faisal during his weekly presser on Thursday said, "We have offered the Indian High Commission to avail consular access on this Friday."

The Pakistani proposal for consular access for Kulbhushan Jadhav came 14 days after New Delhi got a major diplomatic victory at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

On July 17, in its verdict, President of the ICJ Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf said, "Islamic Republic of Pakistan is under an obligation to inform Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav without further delay of his rights and to provide Indian consular officers access to him in accordance with Article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations."

The Court declared that Pakistan is under an obligation to inform Jadhav without further "delay of his rights." He urged Khan to "allow Pakistan's journalists to exercise their profession in complete safety and with complete independence.

"The credibility of the Pakistani state and democracy is at stake," Deloire wrote.

Khan, a cricket hero who captained the national team to World Cup victory in 1992, was elected last summer after running a fiery campaign -- vowing to crack down on corruption and build an Islamic welfare state.&nbsp;

The military's information wing said the plane was on a routine training mission when the accident occurred, adding that rescue officials had extinguished the fire caused by the crash and moved the injured to a local hospital.

An AFP reporter at the scene said smoke was still rising from the wreckage and destroyed homes, while pieces of the plane were visible on a nearby roof.&nbsp;

Rescue workers could be seen combing through the smouldering site, gathering debris and inspecting the scene while ambulances swarmed the area.
