<p>“Therefore, because the salvation of our souls is our first duty before Almighty God … we hereby state that, in conscience, we no longer recognize the authority of, and can have no further relations with, the current Bishop of Fort Worth,” they added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The nuns further said they would forbid Bishop Olson or any of his officials or representatives&nbsp;to enter their residential property or to have any contact or relations with the monastery or any of its nuns or novices.”</p>

The statement issued by the diocese noted that “incorruptibility” is very rare, and a “well-established process to pursue the cause for sainthood,” however, the process has not started in Lancaster’s case.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Catholic News Agency reported that the authorities have canonised 100 incorruptible bodies after their bodies defied the natural process of decaying. However, experts claimed that it is not very uncommon for dead bodies to remain well-preserved, especially in the initial years after death.<br />

Speaking to CNN, Western Carolina University Associate Professor and Director of Forensic Anthropology Nicholas V Passalacqua said, “It’s hard to say how common this is, because bodies are rarely exhumed after burial. But there are many famous cases of well-preserved human remains. Not just things like Egyptian mummies which were intentionally preserved, but also things like the Bog Bodies of Europe which were very well preserved for thousands of years because they were in environments with low oxygen that restricted bacterial grown and access of the remains to scavengers.”</p>

<br />
Till May 29, the body will be laid out in the sisters’ chapel when the sisters plan a rosary procession. After the procession, the body of Sister Wilhelmina will be encased in glass near the altar of St. Joseph in the chapel.</p>

<p>Asked whether Sister Lucy could reach the congregation at 11 am, a Nun who attended the phone of the congregation office said she would have faced problems to commute from Wayanad as the vehicles were off the road on account of the nationwide strike called by trade unions.</p>

<p>The congregation termed as "grave violations" a Nun taking licence, buying a car, taking a loan for it and publishing a book spending money without permission and knowledge of her superiors.</p>

<p>The provincial superior had denied permission to Sister Lucy to publish her collection of poems.</p>

Kerala nun gets notice for leading life against religious principles

<p>Sister Lucy Kalappura, a nun who joined a number of others in protesting against former Bishop of Jalandhar, Franco Mulakkal, demanded an explanation on why she was ousted from church activities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Before expelling me from my duties, explain what my mistake is. I've been very active till date in fulfilling my responsibilities. So, it must be made clear why I am expelled," she told reporters here.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Taking a jibe at the church authorities, the nun asked why no such immediate action was taken to support the nun who was allegedly raped by the former Jalandhar Bishop.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"What pained me is that the church couldn't raise its voice when Franco raped a nun 13 times. I felt I should go and support her. How is it that speedy action is taken against me while everybody was silent on rape? Maybe it is team of the church Vicars who took the decision," she added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sister Lucy, who joined a number of others outside the Kochi High Court to stage a protest against the rape-accused Bishop, was reportedly barred from her duties and relieved from church activities on Sunday. However, no official notice was sent to her regarding the same.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the probe team investigating the alleged Kerala nun rape case will file an application in the court seeking permission to take accused former Bishop of Jalandhar for a polygraph test.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police have asked for the polygraph test, as according to them, the alleged rape accused Mulakkal is not cooperating during the interrogation. As per the police, the accused Bishop used to repeat words like "don't remember" and "don't know" and later refused to respond during the interrogation.</p>

Sister Lucy, who joined a number of others outside the Kochi High Court to stage a protest against the rape-accused Bishop, was reportedly barred from her duties and relieved from church activities on Sunday. However, no official notice was sent to her regarding the same. Meanwhile, the probe team investigating the alleged Kerala nun rape case will file an application in the court seeking permission to take accused former Bishop of Jalandhar for a polygraph test. The police have asked for the polygraph test, as according to them, the alleged rape accused Mulakkal is not cooperating during the interrogation. As per the police, the accused Bishop used to repeat words like "don't remember" and "don't know" and later refused to respond during the interrogation.

<p>However, in a statement Father Stephen Kottakkal, vicar of the St Mary's church Karakkamala in Wayanad, said Sister Lucy had been asked to keep away from duties in view of certain concerns expressed by the parishioners.</p>

<p>He denied the church had initiated any retaliatory measure against Sister Lucy for participating in the nuns protest in Kochi.</p>

<p>"The believers had informed us that they had some difficulties in sister Lucy participating in the church activities relating to Holy mass and taking classes for their children," he said.</p>

<p>The vicar said he had only 'conveyed' the general feeling of the parishioners with regard to certain posts of sister Lucy in the social media which they felt were not in consonance with the church beliefs. Many of them had informed him of the same, he said.</p>

<p>The Franciscean Clarist Congregation St Mary's province Mananthavady, to which sister Lucy belongs, said she faced disciplinary action for various other reasons.</p>

<p>However, no explanation had been sought or action taken so far against her in connection with the nun's issue.</p>

<p>Sister Lucy, however, maintained the restraint order against her was only for participating in the protests at Kochi.</p>

<p>The priest, Bar Yuhanon Ramban, belonging to a dayara in Ernakulam district, said Sunday he had received a "warning" letter from his church headquarters in Damascus in Syria for supporting the nuns' protest.</p>

<p>The letter also said he had campaigned for the implementation of Church Act, he told PTI.</p>

<p>According to the letter, his involvement and public speeches supporting the Catholic nuns were seemingly more than the envisaged living style of church priests.</p>

<p>It further said his activities had caused 'disgrace' to the status of Monasticism and warned that disciplinary measures would be taken if he continued with such deeds.</p>

<p>The priest alleged that some local bishops had conspired against him and sent wrong information to the church higher-ups in Syria and based on which they had issued the warning letter.</p>

<p>He has written a letter to the Patriarch of Antioch, Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, explaining his stand.</p>

<p>Indulekha Joseph, one of the leaders of the Kerala Catholic Church Reformation movement, alleged the action against sister Lucy was an attempt to silence the voices of protest against any form of unjust activities within the church.</p>

<p>Social activist Swami Agnivesh condemned the action against sister Lucy and the Jacobite priest for supporting the five nuns.</p>

<p>The nuns had protested for 13 days, demanding the arrest of the bishop who was accused of repeatedly raping a fellow nun.</p>
