<p>The slabs discovered had hieroglyphic inscriptions which stated the achievements of kings like King Amenhotep III, who is also known as Amenhotep the Magnificent and King Tut's ancestor.</p>

<p>The carvings on the stone also mention King Thutmose IV who ruled in the early 14th Century BC and is remembered for restoring the Great Sphinx of Giza.</p>

<p>The team members, who discovered the stone, expressed their surprise over the good condition of the carvings and hoped to find more artefacts in future.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 1960, ancient artefacts were found in the area but were later lost because of the construction of the Aswan High Dam in Aswan. The archaeologists had hurriedly tried to remove them before they were lost underwater, however, they failed to relocate many of them.</p>

<p>"For the first time, we [have] gone underwater to study the rock formations between the Aswan reservoir and the Aswan High Dam," said the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, while speaking to the Smithsonian Magazine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Since the site remains in good condition, the mission was able to fully document it," it added.</p>

<p>The researchers used underwater photography and filming techniques to document the stones.</p>

<p>The 3D models of the images were also created using photogrammetry, which is the process in which surface measurements from pictures are used to create an accurate three-dimensional version.</p>

<p>55-year-old Brazilian expedition leader Yuri Sanada was quoted as saying by CNN that “The Nile is like a worm and the Amazon is an anaconda.”</p>

<p>While it is already established that the Amazon is the world’s most voluminous river, the question persists which is the world’s longest. Amazon carries at least four times more water than any other river.</p>

<p>“So there’s no comparison – we have the biggest river. But the longest, we will see,” he added.</p>

<h2><strong>The biggest dispute</strong></h2>

<p>Where does the Amazon River originate from? That’s the question which revolves around the whole length dispute.</p>

<p>Traditionally, the researchers have been deeming the headwaters of the Apurimac River in southern Peru as the starting point of the river.</p>

<p>But many other scientists dispute that theory.</p>

<p>Expeditionists like James “Rocky” Contos, 51, claim to have discovered a more distant river source – the Mantaro River, in northern Peru.</p>

Upon reaching the confluence with the Ene River, the team will continue their voyage aboard three specially designed solar- and pedal-powered boats, tracing the Amazon's path to the Atlantic Ocean along the Brazilian coast.</p>

<p>Egypt and Sudan both called on the UN&nbsp;Security&nbsp;Council to help resolve the dispute after Ethiopia earlier this week began filling the reservoir behind its Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) for a second year. Ethiopia is opposed to any&nbsp;Security&nbsp;Council involvement.</p>

Those negotiations should be held&nbsp;under the leadership of the African&nbsp;Union, and should recommence with urgency," she said, adding that the African&nbsp;Union "is the most appropriate venue to address this dispute."</p>

<p>Many council diplomats were wary of involving the body in the dispute - beyond holding the meeting on Thursday - as they are concerned it could set a precedent that could allow other countries to seek&nbsp;Security&nbsp;Council help with water disputes.</p>

<p>Ethiopia says the dam is crucial to its economic development and to provide power. But Egypt views it as a grave threat to its Nile water supplies, on which it is almost entirely dependant. Sudan, also downstream, has expressed concern about the dam's safety and impact on its own dams and water stations.</p>

<p>Tunisia has proposed a draft&nbsp;Security&nbsp;Council resolution that would call for a binding agreement between Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt on the operation of the giant dam within six months. It was not clear if or when it could be put to a vote.</p>

<p>Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called on the&nbsp;Security&nbsp;Council to adopt the resolution.</p>

<p>"We do not expect the council to formulate solutions to the outstanding legal and technical issues, nor do we request that the council impose the terms of a settlement," he said. "This resolution is political in nature and its purpose ... is to re-launch negotiations."</p>

<p>Sudan's Foreign Minister Mariam Sadiq al-Mahdi also urged the council to act by calling for a resumption of negotiations and on Ethiopia to abstain from any&nbsp;unilateral measures.</p>

<p>"We urge our Egyptian and Sudanese brothers and sisters to&nbsp;understand that the resolution to the Nile issue will not come from the&nbsp;Security&nbsp;Council. It can only come from good faith negotiations," he told the council.</p>

<p>Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia suggested the countries meet while in New York to try to resolve some issues.</p>
