Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel was today sworn in as the President of Nepal. Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki administered the oath to 78-year-old Mr Paudel at a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas, the President's Office.

The presidential election in Nepal is taking place on Thursday (March 9) and results are expected by 7 pm. The voting, which started at 10 am, will close at 3 pm and the counting of votes will begin by 4 pm.
