The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday took over the probe pertaining to the escape of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Naveed Jatt from police custody on February 6 while on his way for a routine medical examination. 
 
The NIA today registered a case related to Jatt&#39;s escape, the NIA spokesperson said, adding that the&nbsp;NIA team will proceed to Srinagar tomorrow for the investigation of the case

Naveed Jatt escaped from Srinagar&#39;s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital after he along with a group of terrorists accompanying him attacked and killed the two policemen escorting them.

An FIR was registered by the local Police at Karan Nagar in Srinagar district, the NIA said.

The Jammu and Kashmir police have <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/four-arrested-in-connection-with-srinagar-hospital-firing-32243">arrested four people </a>in connection with the firing in a raid conducted by a Special Investigation Team.&nbsp;

Following the <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/four-arrested-in-connection-with-srinagar-hospital-firing-32243">hospital attack </a>which led to the escape of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) prisoner in Srinagar, seven terrorists have been relocated to other jails, sources in the ministry of home affairs said.

A senior home ministry official said that the state government has also issued instructions to immediately review the security of hardened terrorists who are lodged in Srinagar central jail. The terrorists are expected to be moved out to jails in Jammu, Uddhampur, and Leh and kept in isolation.

The central government has also asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to fully review security measures in place in jails and transportation of inmates.

The Union Home Ministry also asked the state government to ensure that no such incident takes place in future and deploy CRPF in prison security. The state government has been asked to involve CRPF in all aspects of central jail security -- not only perimeter security but also inside the prison.

&quot;The home ministry has taken serious note of the issue and has advised the state government to fully review security measures and take action to prevent such incidents in future,&quot; the home ministry official told PTI.

The measures come after the escape of Pakistani terrorist Naveed Jatt, who was lodged in Srinagar central jail.

He fled from a hospital in the city after he along with other terrorists accompanying him, shot and killed two policemen accompanying him.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was taken to the hospital for medical checkup.

The home ministry has asked the Jammu and Kashmir to examine why a high-security prisoner was sent to the OPD of a hospital.

It has also asked the state government to fix responsibility for lapses.

There were 16 Pakistani prisoners still in Srinagar jail, of whom seven are being shifted to Jammu and discussions are on where to shift the others.

Another official said that the Jammu and Kashmir government has assured the central government of taking necessary steps and reviewing the entire jail security.

The state government has transferred Director General of Prisons S K Mishra and appointed Dilbag Singh in his place.

The Srinagar jail superintendent has been suspended and a high-level enquiry by the divisional commissioner ordered, the official said.

Srinagar hospital attack: Centre asks J&K government to deploy CRPF in jails

One policeman was killed and another got critically after an imprisoned Pakistani terrorist on Tuesday fired&nbsp;at them inside Srinagar&#39;s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital before fleeing from the spot.

The injured policeman, who was undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, died from his injuries, taking the death toll to two.&nbsp; &nbsp;

The terrorist, Abu Hanzulla alias Naveed Jatt,&nbsp;of the&nbsp;Pakistan-based&nbsp;terrorist outfit&nbsp;Lashkar-e-Taiba, was being escorted for a medical test along with five other detainees. He escaped during the firing.&nbsp;As per preliminary information, he may have fled off with the snatched rifle.

&quot;Six detainees were being brought from Central Jail. Out of them, one snatched weapons from police and fired at the protection party. One policeman is critically injured and another is injured. The prisoner&#39;s name is Naveed. He is probably an outsider,&quot;&nbsp;Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parra earlier told ANI.

A resident of Multan, Pakistan, Abu Hanzulla was considered close to former Lashkar chief in Kashmir Abu Qasim and was arrested in March 2016 from Shopian.

He was also involved in many terror-related activities and was involved in many cases including the targeted killing of policemen.

He had a hand in the killing of at least seven policemen including three&nbsp;policemen near a court in Pulwama.

In 2014, Abu Hanzulla attacked a polling party near Shopian, killing a teacher on poll duty.
