A Texas man arrested for stabbing twin 16-year-old girls to death in 1989 was executed on Oct 1, Tuesday evening- after over three decades of&nbsp;the heinous crime taking place.

The 61-year-old Garcia Glenn White died at 6:56 pm (local time) after being given a chemical injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville.&nbsp;

White fatally stabbed Annette and Bernette Edwards in December 1989. The bodies of the twins were found in their Houston apartment alongside their mother’s.&nbsp;

White was put to death after the US Supreme Court declined requests to intervene. He is&nbsp;the sixth inmate to be executed in the US in the last 11 days.

White was the prime suspect in two additional murders besides those of the twins and their mom, for which he had not been charged. White was&nbsp;born in Houston and was known for his love for football.&nbsp;

He went to the twin’s house to smoke crack with her mother Bonita, as per the testimony. At one point, he fatally stabbed Bonita and when the twins came out of their rooms startled, he attacked them too. White was later connected to the deaths of a grocery store owner and another woman, according to authorities.

"Garcia Glenn White committed five murders in three different transactions and two of his victims were teenage girls. This is the type of case that the death penalty was intended for,"&nbsp;Josh Reiss, chief of the Post-Conviction Writs Division with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in Houston, said ahead of the execution, according to the Citrus County Chronicle.

White, while waiting to be executed, offered an apology to witnesses. "I would like to apologize for all the wrong I have done, and for the pain I've caused,"&nbsp;he said from the death chamber.

The mystery of the twins and their mother’s deaths remained unsolved for more than six years. Later, White confessed to the murders after being arrested in connection with the July 1995 death of grocery store owner Hai Vam Pham. He also confessed to killing another woman named Greta Williams, according to police.&nbsp;

After White’s lawyer’s unsuccessful attempts at appealing to the US Supreme Court to intervene and stop the execution, they claimed that Texas’ top criminal appeals court refused "to accept medical evidence and strong factual backing” that showed White is intellectually disabled."

One of White's attorneys, Patrick McCann, said that the suspect spent his time behind bars "working to be a better human being."

In the horrific murder case of Mahalakshmi, the Bengaluru city police have identified one of her former colleagues - Mukti - as the prime suspect.

The 29-year-old woman was brutally killed and her body was found chopped into more than 50 pieces inside a fridge in an apartment in the Vyalikaval locality&nbsp;of Bengaluru on September 21, in a case which had stark similarity to Shraddha Walker's killing.

As per the police, Mukti had opposed the relationship of the woman with another man, according to a report published by News18.

As per the police report, Mukti's mobile phone&nbsp;is switched off and efforts are being made to find him near the Odisha-West Bengal border.&nbsp;

<h2>Karnataka's home minister says police have located suspect</h2>

Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday (September 25) said that the police have been able to locate the suspect and teams are sent to nab him.

"We have taken the case very seriously, as the murder had shaken the entire Bengaluru. Already the police have identified that the person is in Odisha and have gathered information that he is behind the crime. Police have sent three to four teams there. He is said to be on the run changing places," Parameshwara said.

"After securing him, we will get more information....two-three persons were taken into custody, but based on the evidence and information available, there is a suspicion about the involvement of the person (in Odisha). So efforts are on to secure him," he added.

Meanwhile, the post-mortem report of Mahalakshmi had confirmed that the accused had chopped her body into 59 pieces.

Mahalakshmi’s mother had previously&nbsp;said that she&nbsp;last saw&nbsp;her daughter on the day of the Raksha Bandhan festival.

“The owner of the building informed me that there was a foul smell coming from the house. When I came and opened the door I saw the body of Mahalakshmi cut into pieces. I saw her for the last time at the Rakshabandhan festival. Since then her phone has been switched off,” said Mahalakshmi’s mother Meena Rana, while speaking to the reporters.

Marcellus Williams, 55, was executed in the US state of Missouri after spending more than two decades on death row.&nbsp;

Williams was convicted in 1998 for fatally stabbing Lisha Gayle, who was 42 at the time, during a burglary of her suburban home in St. Louis.&nbsp;The victim's family had pleaded with authorities to spare him and to turn his sentence into a life sentence.&nbsp;

Both Gayle's family and the prosecutor, wanted the death sentence commuted to life in prison.

<h2>How did the murder happen?&nbsp;</h2>

According to the prosecutors, William broke into her home on August 11, 1998, heard the shower running, and found a large butcher knife with which&nbsp;he stabbed Gayle 43 times as she came downstairs. He also robbed her purse and her husband's laptop.&nbsp;

He also stole a jacket to conceal blood on his shirt. His girlfriend also questioned him why he was wearing a jacket on a hot day. The girlfriend further said that she saw the purse and laptop in his car, however, William,&nbsp;sold the computer a day or two later.&nbsp;

An attorney of Williams also argued that there was racial discrimination in selecting jurors and that DNA evidence in the case was mishandled.

Williams was denied a last-minute reprieve from the US Supreme Court after Missouri's top court and governor rejected his mercy requests early this week.

Williams' son and two attorneys watched his execution from another room. However, no one was present on behalf of the victim's family.&nbsp;

Republican Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said he hoped the execution brings finality to a case that “languished for decades, revictimising Ms&nbsp;Gayle’s family over and over again.”

“No juror nor judge has ever found Williams’ innocence claim to be credible,” Parson said in a statement.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), an American civil rights organisation, condemned the execution.

A mother has been charged for allegedly&nbsp;murdering her two sons at their Blue Mountains home, located in Australia’s New South Wales.&nbsp;

The 42-year-old woman made a brief court appearance where she was remanded in custody.&nbsp;

The mother, Patricia Smith, faced Parramatta Local Court on Saturday (Sep 14) morning, after being charged last night with two counts of domestic violence-related murder.

Reportedly, Smith stabbed her 11-year-old and nine-year-old sons. The police charged her with two counts of domestic violence-related murder after their bodies were found at their Faulconbridge home on Tuesday.

Later, emergency services were called to the house for welfare concerns, for the woman and her children.&nbsp;

According to the New South Wales police, the mother was also found at the scene with stab wounds and was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition. On Friday, she was released from the hospital and taken to Parramatta police station, where she was charged.&nbsp;

<h2>Family members 'really hurt'</h2>

Following the brief hearing on Saturday morning, the woman's lawyer said family members were "really hurting".

“Parents, grandparents and the like, and we’d ask that everyone respect that privacy because, as I said, right from emergency services who had to attend the scene ... there’d be a lot of people out there that have been subjected to this,” he told reporters outside court.

The father of the boys does not live at the Blue Mountains home, expressed disbelief at the incident, and&nbsp;asked for privacy.&nbsp;

“The loss of our two beautiful boys has caused unimaginable pain and distress,” he said in a statement.

“[My sons] were happy, funny, outgoing boys and were very much loved by their family and friends," he added.&nbsp;

The son of a famous Spanish actor was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday (Aug 29) in Thailand for killing and dismembering a man on the southern Thai island of Koh Phangan last year.

Daniel Sancho Bronchalo is the son of renowned TV star Rodolfo Sancho Aguirre. He claimed that he&nbsp;killed the Colombian plastic surgeon Edwin Arrieta in self-defence as he was trying to molest him. Sancho pleaded guilty to murder in August 2023.

A court on the nearby island of Koh Samui, where the case was heard, initially issued a death sentence for Sancho, but this was changed to life imprisonment after taking into account his cooperation during the trial.

Apart from the life sentence, Sancho is also ordered to pay 4 million baht ($118,000) in damages to Arrieta’s family.&nbsp;

The victim’s lawyer, Bussakorn Kaewleeled, said the family is satisfied with the outcome of this case.

"The plaintiff is satisfied with the sentence because he (Sancho) will be put in prison for life and they (the plaintiff) receive some financial compensation," Bussakorn told reporters outside the court on the island of Koh Samui, AFP news agency reported.

Police discovered parts of Arrieta’s body at a landfill in Koh Phangan in early August last year. Around the same time, Sancho reported to the police that Arrieta, then 44, was missing. He admitted to killing Arrieta upon further questioning.

Thai media reported last year that investigations had shown that Sancho had bought, among other things, a knife, rubber gloves and a bottle of cleaning agent - leading police to conclude the murder was premeditated.

As per one of Sancho’s interviews with the Spanish media, he was held “hostage” by Arrieta as the surgeon was obsessed with him. The defence also argued that Sancho acted in self-defence after Arrieta tried to force him to have sex.&nbsp;

In a statement published by Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Sancho said the plastic surgeon “tried to rape [him].”

Sancho and Arrieta had agreed to meet after getting to know each other online, as per reports.

Sancho is a chef by profession and also runs a YouTube channel. He hails from a family of influential actors. His mother is actress Silvia Bronchalo, while his grandfather is the late actor Félix Ángel Sancho Gracia.

Jeremy Skibicki, a white supremacist serial killer, was given four life sentences by a Canadian court for murdering four native women in 2022 and abusing their corpses. The murders had shocked the First Nation community in Winnipeg region and the nation.

As the sentence was pronounced on Wednesday (Aug 28), Skibicki, who had pleaded not guilty citing a mental disorder, showed no emotion.

"Make no mistake Mr Skibicki, because of the current state of the law, the only available sentence that I can impose today will regrettably not adequately reflect the gravity of these offences," said Judge Glen Joyal while pronouncing the sentence after family members of the women made impact statements.&nbsp;

The women were "preyed upon and targeted" by a white supremacist who was acting upon his homicidal necrophilia, said the judge.

“The heinous crimes committed by Mr Skibicki have left a deep scar on First Nations people and the reverberations of his actions will be felt for generations,” said Grand Chief Cathy Merrick of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.

The murders came to light after a man informed police about finding human remains while searching for scrap metal in a bin near Skibicki's residence.

Skibicki eventually confessed to having killed four women.
