A Mangalore-bound passenger was apprehended by the CISF at the airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle gold biscuits worth about Rs 7 lakh, an official has said.

The incident took place on February 17 when the personnel of the security force detected a metal-like object in the wallet of S Jamal during frisking and he was subsequently taken for detailed checking.

&quot;During the detailed check, two gold biscuits (2234 grams in weight) were recovered from the passenger. He could not furnish valid documents for carrying the yellow metal.

&quot;The Mangalore-bound passenger and the seized two gold biscuits were then handed over to Customs department officials at the airport,&quot; a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) spokesperson said.

The value of the seized gold is estimated to be Rs 7 lakh, he said.

An official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Disaster Control Room said that the fire started in the afternoon and fire brigade personnel have rushed to the site along with eight fire engines, six jetties and water jets.

Fire safety norms have been under the scanner in the city after several major fires claimed many lives and damaged property since December 28.

On December 28, 14 people were killed and over a dozen injured after a fire broke out at a building in the city&rsquo;s Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel locality.

The ISIS suspect who was arrested on Sunday by the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Mumbai has been taken to Lucknow for transit remand.&nbsp;

According to ADG (LO) Anand Kumar &quot;We have arrested a terror suspect Abu Zaid from Mumbai airport. We are bringing him on transit remand to Lucknow from Mumbai.&quot; he said in a press conference.

&quot;In the month of April, UP ATS arrested four people and Zaid was the ideologue of his group. They radicalised people to join ISIS and other Islamic groups via whatsApp group,&quot; Kumar informed.

Omar alfaz Nazim, Ghazi Baba alias Mujmimil, Mufti alias Faizan and Zakwan alias Ehtesham who were in the same group as Zaid were arrested in April.&nbsp;

As per reports, the police had&nbsp;been on a look out for Zaid for a long period of time.

Abu Zaid ran the terrorist network from Dubai involving several youths from Western Uttar Pradesh.

Zaid is said to be directly connected with the other members who have been arrested from Bijnor and Western Uttar Pradesh.

The police had been tracking his movement for a very long time and arrested him as soon as he landed in Mumbai.
