<p>“We have deployed two pumps of 50 horsepower each. They are pumping out around 12,000 litres of water every minute,” Hindustan Times quoted Prasanna Kumar, the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) commandant overseeing the search operations as saying.</p>

<p>The rescue mission takes inspiration from the 2018 Thailand cave rescue operation where hundreds of thousands of litres were removed from the cave and surrounding hills every hour to save the 12 trapped children and their soccer coach.</p>

<p>That operation had also spawned a film '13 Lives', and a mini-series, 'Thai Cave Rescue'.</p>

<p>During the hearing, one of the arrested Deepak Parekh, a manager of the Oreva company—which was given the repairing contract—reportedly told the magistrate that the incident took place because it was "the will of God".</p>

According to authorities, over 500 people were near the bridge at the time of the incident. <p>Officials are still searching for people as a joint team of army, navy, air force and fire brigade teams have been dispatched to conduct search operations.&nbsp; Six boats, six ambulances and two rescue vans have been sent to Morbi from the Rajkot fire brigade department.</p>

<p>The collapse happened on Sunday evening when a huge crowd&nbsp;had gathered on the bridge in&nbsp;the Machchhu river, which is&nbsp;around 300 km from the state capital Ahmedabad. It is&nbsp;considered a local picnic spot.</p>

<p>However, some reports claimed that the area had no electricity which was proving an impediment in the rescue operation.&nbsp;</p>
