The situation in Afghanistan, counter-terrorism and India&#39;s foreign policy formed the thrust of Modi&#39;s meeting with the two senior diplomats, India&#39;s Ministry of External Affairs said soon after the meeting.

Hours ahead of the meeting, the US Department of State designated Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin a global terrorist in a notification.

Asked for his comments, Gopal Baglay said, &quot;It vindicates India&#39;s position that cross border terrorism is behind disturbances in Kashmir since last year.&nbsp;The outfits that Syed Salahuddin leads, they have perpetuated, from the territory of Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, cross border terrorism against India including in Kashmir for a number of years.&quot;

&quot;It also underlines the fact that both India and US face threat of terrorism and are working together to counter this threat,&quot; the MEA added.

Syed Salahuddin is one of the most wanted terrorists in India.

&quot;There was strong focus on terrorism and co-operation in counter-terrorism. It was very clear that given the challenges the two countries have faced and continue to face, the two sides touched upon the broad direction in which they can develop this cooperation.&nbsp;

There was a general discussion on global situation, situation in Asia and Indo-Pacific region and elsewhere. In discussion with US Secretary of State Tillerson, PM Modi conveyed that the fulcrum of India&#39;s foreign policy is to have good relations with all countries, particularly with our neighbours,&quot; the external affairs ministry added.

President Trump and US first lady Melania will receive PM Modi at the South Portico of the White House. The two leaders will spend four hours together which includes a discussion with their delegations in the Cabinet Room, a cocktail reception hosted by Vice-President Mike Pence followed by dinner at the White House.

India's stand on global terrorism vindicated, says MEA after Modi's meeting with Tillerson, Mattis

After attending the CEOs roundtable conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said here that the Indian PM focused on getting insights on how to attract more foreign investment.

&quot;It (the conference) was a discussion across many industries and I think the Prime Minister was looking for insights into how India can attract more foreign investment,&quot; Pichai told ANI in an exclusive interview.&nbsp;

He said good ideas were discussed on foreign investment and everyone was looking forward to investing more in India.

&quot;I think there were many good ideas discussed and I think everyone is excited to invest more in India and I&#39;m excited about what we all can do together,&quot; said the Google CEO.

Commenting on the upcoming rollout of Good and Services Tax (GST), Pichai said, &quot;We are all looking forward to the July 1&nbsp;rollout. I know it has been a very difficult thing to do so I&#39;m excited to see it happen. Shows that you can achieve reform by pushing hard for it and I hope it is just the beginning.&quot;

GST is India&#39;s biggest and most ambitious tax reform that is being rolled out in hope that it will shore up tax revenues, cool inflation and accelerate growth. When implied it will tear down trade barriers by replacing 15 different central and state levies. The government has assured that the reform will not be inflationary. At the conference with the business honchos, the Prime Minister stressed that the whole world is looking at India today adding that growth for New Delhi also presents a win-win partnership for the United States.

The Indian Government so far has carried out about 7,000 reforms for ease of doing business in the country and provide for minimum government, maximum governance.

&quot;The implementation of the landmark initiative of GST could be a subject of studies in US business schools,&quot; said the Prime Minister.
