<p>Since 2015–16, the Indian government has been carrying out the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which aims to help eligible rural and urban people build homes with the most basic facilities. Over the course of the previous 10 years, 4.21 crore residences under PMAY have been constructed for eligible impoverished households.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Through convergence with other central and state government projects, all PMAY-built homes are equipped with additional essential utilities such as functional household tap connections, LPG and electricity connections, and household toilets.</p>

<p>In his first address to the officials of PMO, after assuming office of the Prime Minister for the third time, PM Modi said, "What new can be done in the team which gave me so much in 10 years, how we can do ever better, how we can do ever quicker, how we can do it on a better scale - if we go ahead together with all of these, I am confident that the 140 crore people of the country have put their stamp of approval on their efforts."</p>

<p>"These elections are not a stamp on the speeches of Modi, these elections are a stamp on the efforts of every government employee in 10 years. So, if someone is entitled to this victory, it is you. Every employee of the Government of India is truly entitled to this victory - who left no stone unturned to give themselves in for a vision...I want to go ahead with a new energy, a new courage. I was not born to stop," he added.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet approved two new Metro corridors in New Delhi in another boost to urban connectivity in the national capital. The two new corridors will connect Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block and Inderlok to Indraprastha, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said on Wednesday while sharing details of the decisions taken in the Union cabinet meeting held earlier in the day.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The cost of the two new Metro corridors is estimated to be ₹8,399 crore or nearly $1 billion. The budget will be sourced from the Union government and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led government as well as international funding agencies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The new Metro corridors are scheduled to be completed by March 2029, the Union minister added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Today, two new metro corridors have been given permission, on which ₹8400 crore ($1 billion) will be spent. There will be about 8.4-kilometre metro line from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block. It will have eight stations. The second is from Inderlok to Indraprastha, this will be a Metro line of about 12.4 kilometres. It will be completed by March 2029...," Thakur said.</p>

<h2><strong>Delhi Metro expansion: What does it mean?</strong></h2>

<p>The aggregate length of the two new Metro corridors will be a little over 20 km. The first line, between Lajpat Nagar and Saket G-Block, will integrate the southern part of the national capital with major commercial hubs and popular markets. The commuters will no longer have to take long detours to reach their specific destinations.</p>
