Jean Todt, who is currently the President of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and reportedly a very close family friend of legendary racer Michael Schumacher, gave a rare health update on F1 legend.&nbsp;

While speaking to a German newspaper, Todt revealed that he has been in touch with Michael's family and spent a lot of time with them after the tragic accident.&nbsp;

"I've spent a lot of time with [Schumacher's wife] Corinna since Michael had his serious skiing accident on December 29, 2013," Todt told German newspaper Bild.&nbsp;

Todt, who is Michael's former Ferrari boss, has now said he expects his friend will "slowly and surely improve".&nbsp;

"She is a great woman and runs the family. She hadn't expected that. It happened suddenly and she had no choice. But she does it very well. I trust her, she trusts me," he added.&nbsp;

"Thanks to the work of his doctors and the cooperation of Corinna, who wanted him to survive, he survived - but with consequences," he added.&nbsp;

The 52-year-old Formula 1 racer is recovering, out of the public eye, from the serious head injury he sustained in a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013.&nbsp;

Schumacher, who won 91 Grand Prix, had announced retiremnent from Formula One in 2012.&nbsp;

"Well obviously I think that it's going to be a very emotional documentary for many people," the German said.

Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, is set to drive in Formula One for the first time with Haas in the 2021 season, as announced on Wednesday. The 21-year-old will carry his father’s legacy forward or rather create his own and will get a taste of F1 when he takes part in free practice ahead of the 2020 season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 11 before participating in the testing process a few days later.&nbsp;

"Haas F1 Team has signed Germany's Mick Schumacher as part of its all-new driver lineup for the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship and beyond in a multi-year agreement," Haas said in a statement.

Mick Schumacher, who has been long tipped for an F1 spot, will partner Russia’s Nikita Mazepin in the Haas line-up. Schumacher junior currently sits atop the Formula T20 drivers’ standings with one race to go in Bahrain this weekend.

His father, Michael Schumacher, was seriously injured in a skiing accident in December 2013 and has not made public appearances since then. Whereas his wife Corinna, Mick’s mother, gave a rare statement on F1 legend’s 50th birthday last year saying the family were doing "everything humanly possible" to help her husband.
