On the occasion of the golden jubilee of its independence, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be travelling to Bangladesh and will be visiting the two temples of the Matua community in Gopalganj and Satkhira district.

The last rites of Matua community matriarch Binapani Devi, popularly known as ‘Boro Ma’, will be held on Wednesday at Thakurnagar in North 24 Parganas district, where her body would shortly arrive from Kolkata. Boro Ma, 100, passed away at a state-run hospital here on Tuesday evening after a prolonged illness.&nbsp;

The body was taken in a flower-bedecked hearse from S S K M Hospital in presence of West Bengal minister Jyotipriyo Mallick and Trinamool Congress MP Mamata Bala Thakur, a family member of Boro Ma. Thakurnagar is the headquarters of the Matua Mahasangh, an organisation of the community.

Many members of the scheduled caste community visited the hospital throughout the night to pay their last respects to Boro Ma, who breathed her last at 8.52 pm, after being on ventilator support at the hospital since Sunday. Her body is expected to reach Thakurnagar by 11 am, as thousands of followers await to catch the last glimpse of their beloved Boro Ma.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had on Tuesday condoled the death of Binapani Devi, considered a significant political force in the state. Modi had met Boro Ma this February during his visit to Thakurnagar, where he had addressed a rally.

Banerjee has announced that Boro Ma will be accorded a state funeral with a gun salute. The Matuas originally hail from erstwhile East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, and began migrating to West Bengal at the beginning of the 1950s, mostly due to religious persecution. With an estimated population of 30 lakh in the state, Matuas can influence results in at least five Lok Sabha seats in North and South 24 Parganas districts.

Gauri Shankar Dutta, TMC’s district president alleged that BJP leaders conspired to kill Biswas as he defeated the BJP candidate twice by a huge margin.

In FIR too Matua popularity of Satyajit has been written and the fact that he became hindrance of BJP was also stressed on.

But BJP nowhere is to buy TMC theory, to them, he used to deal with land this may be the outcome of faction fight on land.

Moreover, Mukul Roy stated, " Please independent agency should investigate into this and truth should come out its there infighting and BJP should not be involved ".

Further to this TMC Matua leader like MP Mamata Thakur reached victims house and staged the protest in Bengal portraying that BJP killed a Matua.

Matua community is a sect of Vaishnavite Hinduism, which originated from present-day Bangladesh.

There will be no syndicate tax, no obstacles. The people will directly receive the Rs. 6,000 meant for them under the new budget. The farmers can use this money to meet the expenditures needed for agriculture,"&nbsp;said PM Modi.

PM Modi also&nbsp;took a dig at the West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress party supremo Mamata Banerjee for opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

"Shouldn't those who have had to come back from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh be allowed to live respectfully in India? For them, we have introduced the Citizens Amendment Bill. But, the TMC is opposing it for no reason,"&nbsp;he said.

Thakurnagar is a village inhabited by the Matua community who settled from Bangladesh, the erstwhile East Pakistan after a religious reformation movement led by the late Harichand Thakur. Thakurnagar falls under the Bongaon constituency, housing more than 60% Matua voters.

This vote bank was instrumental in making Mamata Banerjee win during the 2011 assembly polls and bringing her into power.

On the other hand, claiming that the budget presented on Friday will bring relief to farmers and middle income groups, PM Modi said, "Most farmers didn't receive the benefits of loan waivers. Those who did, fell into the debt trap even after that. Congress bought votes by promising farmer loan waivers. But the situation is entirely different in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Leaders haven't focused on the development of rural areas. New India cannot function in this way. The Central government is making every effort for the past 4.5 years for the development of farmers and agricultural laborers."
