<p>The star is back in the limelight for her outstanding performance in ‘Samrat Prithviraj’. She joined WION for an exclusive interview where she opens up&nbsp;about her debut, her&nbsp;working experience with&nbsp;Akshay Kumar and what she has learned from the superstar while shooting.</p>

<p>Chhillar landed several film opportunities soon after the pageant. However, the star took some time to figure out if she would want to pursue a career in acting or not. "I was studying in a medical school and wanted to become a doctor. And I was very much set on continuing with my studies, and I think the timing was great, of course, when I came to know that an opportunity like this has entered my life," The 25-year-old star&nbsp;shares.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chhillar's life completely changed after winning Miss World, and when an opportunity like 'Samrat Prithviraj' arrived, the actress thought of shifting her path to acting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On being asked why she said yes to the film, the actress explains how the story fascinated her.&nbsp;"The story is based on Prithviraj Chauhan, which we all read about. We know these characters. The story I read as a kid. How Prithviraj and Princess Sanyogita eloped from her swayamvar. That caused a little bit of excitement in me."</p>

<p>Talking about her journey from preparing for medicine to a beauty pageant and now pursuing acting, Chhillar says she comes from an environment where everyone thrives on getting a degree and then finding a job. "Things changed after Miss India. I never knew I could make a career in the entertainment industry."</p>

Speaking of the reactions from family and friends, the former Miss World said, "They all are very very excited. All of them have been waiting for a very long time. Because of the pandemic, the film kept getting pushed."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"For all the people close to me, this is a very new experience," she said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Working with Akshay Kumar was a learning experience, said&nbsp;Chhillar. "His professionalism, someone as senior as him, who is so specific about time, giving that much of an effort to a film, that really pushes you and encourages you as a newcomer."</p>

<p>It’s finally confirmed! Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar will be making her Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar in the upcoming film titled ‘Prithviraj’.</p>

<p>The film will be helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi as it is based on the life of Indian historical figure Prithviraj Chauhan who was known for his valour and bravery. While Akshay will essay the role of the king, Manushi will play the role of the Sanyogita, the love of his life.</p>

<p>In a statement, Dwivedi said, "We auditioned a lot of young, fresh faces for the role because we were looking for a stunningly gorgeous Indian heroine. While Sanyogita was an incredibly beautiful person, she was also a strong, confident girl. We were looking to find someone who could match the magnetic persona of Sanyogita and we found that in Manushi."</p>

<p>The director said that Manushi auditioned "for the role a couple of times". He said, "We wanted to be dead sure with this casting and she nailed it each time. She has been rehearsing six days a week since then and is being thoroughly groomed for the last nine months by Yash Raj Films (YRF)."</p>

<p>Happy with landing the role, Manushi said, "I'm thoroughly happy and thrilled about the learnings that I will have through this journey. My life, so far, has really been a fairy tale. From becoming Miss India and then Miss World to now getting such a big project as my debut film, it's like a new, exciting chapter of my life.”</p>

<p>"She was a powerful personality and she stood up for what is right and took the most important decisions of her life by herself. Her life is an extremely important chapter in Indian history and I will try my best to play her as accurately as possible," she added.</p>

<p>‘Prithviraj’ is being made under the banner Yash Raj Films. It is slated to release on Diwali 2020.</p>

<p>The 20-year old medical student was crowned Miss World last week in Sanya, China. Manushi who belongs to Rohtak, Haryana broke the 16-year jinx for India by winning the crown. Before her, Priyanka Chopra had won the coveted crown in 2000.&nbsp;<br />
