Meanwhile, two others are critically injured. Around 101 people have been safely rescued by the authorities. 
The Neelkamal ferry was on way to Elephanta Islands when the speed boat circled it before crashing into it. 
The ferry had over 110 people on board, while the naval boat had six individuals, including two Navy personnel and four staff members, according to the reports. 
The search operation is being conducted by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships. 
The videos of the incident soon went viral, showing ongoing rescue operations.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that boats from the Navy, Coast Guard, Port, and Police teams have been immediately dispatched for assistance. 
"We are in constant touch with the district and police administration, and fortunately, most of the passengers have been rescued. However, rescue operations are still ongoing. Orders have been given to the district administration to deploy all necessary resources for the operation," he added. 
He added that according to the preliminary information, five to seven people are still missing. "I will make a statement in the House as soon as I receive more detailed information."

Shiv Sena MLA Narendra Bhondekar has resigned from all party posts while expressing disappointment at not being included in the Maharashtra cabinet.
Speaking to reporters in Bhandara on Sunday, Bhondekar, who was the Shiv Sena's deputy leader and co-ordinator for eastern Vidarbha districts, claimed his party head and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had promised him a cabinet berth.
Bhondekar said he aspired to secure a cabinet berth to become the guardian minister of Bhandara district and work for its development.

He won from the Bhandara constituency by defeating his Congress rival by more than 38,000 votes in the November 20 state polls.
A total of 39 legislators from Mahayuti allies were sworn in on Sunday in the first cabinet expansion of the Devendra Fadnavis-led ministry, including 16 new faces, while 10 former ministers were excluded.
While the BJP secured 19 ministerial berths by virtue of being the largest party among allies, Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were allotted 11 and 9 berths, respectively.
Bhondekar said, "I joined the Shiv Sena on the condition that I would be given a cabinet berth. Shinde had even promised me the same. When Shinde became chief minister in the previous government, I was an independent MLA and extended support to him." The Sena leader claimed his name was also considered for a ministerial position during the last cabinet expansion (of the previous Mahayuti government).
"When I reviewed the cabinet list and realised I was omitted, I decided to step down from all positions in the party," he said.

Fadnavis, while talking to a reporter, said, "It is a joyous moment that after becoming the chief minister, I have come to my janmabhoomi and karmabhoomi. Nagpur is my family, and it is welcome by my family."
Further, he accused the opposition parties of not believing in the Constitution. 
In the Maharashtra assembly polls, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a decisive victory, winning 235 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single-largest party with 132 seats, while Shiv Sena won 57 and NCP secured 41 seats.

The alliance meeting held to pick the new Maharashtra chief minister went on for over two hours, but no formal announcement on the next CM's name was made. Reports said the name will be announced after the legislators' meeting in Mumbai in the presence of BJP observers from Delhi.

Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief&nbsp;Eknath Shinde, former CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar were there to hold discussions with Amit Shah in the&nbsp;presence of JP Nadda. NCP leader Praful Patel was also present at the meeting.&nbsp;

Before the meeting, caretaker CM Eknath Shinde arrived in the national capital on Thursday and met Amit Shah at his residence, where BJP national president JP Nadda was already there. 
 
As per reports, discussions were also held&nbsp;on the allocation of ministries and portfolios among the alliance partners.&nbsp;

“I am not the kind who gets upset, we are the kind of people who fight, fight for the people,” Shinde added. “All the work I do, I will do for the people of Maharashtra. What is important is not what I get, but what the people of the state get,” Shinde said.

Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde, former CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar were there to hold discussions with Amit Shah in the presence of JP Nadda. NCP leader Praful Patel was also present at the meeting. A bus travelling from the Indian state of Maharashtra's Bhandara to Gondia lost control on Friday (Nov 29) and overturned, killing at least 10 people and injuring over two dozen others, the police said.&nbsp;

The incident took place in Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road in the Gondia district. The bus left from the city of Nagpur and was heading to Gondia.&nbsp;

Around 25 people were injured as the bus overturned. Following the incident, police vans, ambulances, and cranes were deployed to assist the injured people.&nbsp;

The injured people have been taken to the Gondia District Hospital for treatment.

"A State transport bus met with an accident in Gondia district. The bus was en route from the Bhandara depot to Gondia when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle near Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road and overturned on the side of the road," Indian news agency ANI reported, citing police officials.&nbsp;

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ordered the Transport Administration to provide immediate assistance of Rs 1 million (Rs 10 lakh)&nbsp;to the victims.&nbsp;

The CM's office further said that the death toll is expected to rise.&nbsp;

"A State transport Shivshahi bus overturned in a horrific accident. Eight bodies have been recovered from the site of the incident, and the death toll is expected to increase. Information about the situation was taken from the local administration. Instructions have been issued for immediate and proper treatment of the injured," a CMO statement read.&nbsp;

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis offered condolences to the families of the victims.&nbsp;

The resignation was tendered by Shinde in the presence of Deputy CMs Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis.

In the Maharashtra assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance which consists&nbsp;of NCP, Shiv Sena and BJP clinched a massive victory over the Maha Vikas Agadi.

In the elections, the Mahayuti alliance clinched the majority with BJP led by Fadnavis winning&nbsp;132&nbsp;seats and the Shiv Sena and NCP clinching 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

The frontrunners for the position of chief minister are BJP senior leader Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde.

As the leadership of the BJP continues to brainstorm who will be the next chief minister, the BJP faction backs Fadnavis for the post and Shiv Sena leaders are supporting Shinde.&nbsp;

To show their support for Shinde, Sena leaders had gathered outside his official bungalow Varsha.

However, Sena chief Shinde said on X, "After the great victory of the Mahayuti alliance, our government will be formed once again in the state. As a grand alliance, we contested the election together and are still together today."

"Out of love for me, some people have appealed to everyone to gather together and come to Mumbai. I am deeply grateful for your love. But I appeal that no one should come together in my support in such a manner," he added.

Meanwhile, Sena spokesperson Naresh Mhaske proposed the 'Bihar model' of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the state.&nbsp;

"We feel Shinde should be the chief minister, just like in Bihar where BJP did not look at the numbers but still made JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar the CM. Senior leaders of the Mahayuti (in Maharashtra) will ultimately take a decision," Mhaske said.&nbsp;

However, &nbsp;BJP's Pravin Darekar said the mandate of the people is with Devendra Fadnavis.&nbsp;

"The people of Maharashtra stood behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In my opinion, Fadnavis should become the chief minister. Maharashtra needs an astute and academic leader. He kept the alliance united, gave our allies candidates, and even stepped back when required. He has always maintained coordination," said the MLC.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, a BJP leader said that the party will not rush into the announcement of the chief ministerial candidate till the distribution of portfolios in the new government of Maharashtra is finalised.

"The central leadership is in no hurry to name a candidate for the chief minister's post. We have secured a decisive mandate, and the priority now is to work out a comprehensive plan for government formation. That includes finalising ministerial portfolios and distribution of key posts such as district guardian ministers," said a state BJP leader, while speaking to PTI.&nbsp;

According to reports, the new Chief Minister of the state will be sworn in today, (Tuesday, November 26).
