Former LSU coach Les Miles' chances of getting into the College Football Hall of Fame (HoF) have taken a hit after his former employer decided to vacate 37 wins from 2012-15 period. Miles was associated with LSU from 2005 to 2016.

The move from LSU comes as part of NCAA penalties pertaining to some recruiting violations. The school, however, has self-imposed the penalty after getting a notice of allegations from the NCAA in March last year. The move was made public for the first time on Thursday.

The case from which the allegations stemmed involves prohibited benefits being paid to a former player Vadal Alexander's father by a former booster of the school. Alexander played for LSU from 2012 to 2015.

The coaches require a winning percentage of minimum 0.600 to be eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame. Miles, who had coached for Oklahoma State and Kansas apart from LSU, had a 145-73 win-loss record with a winning percentage of 0.665. Following LSU's decision to vacate 37 wins, Miles' record comes to 108-73, a winning percentage of 0.597. At LSU, Miles had a 114-34 win-loss record, which now stands at 77-34. His best performance with LSU came in 2006 when he won a national championship with them.

Miles had last coached at Kansas where we was put on administrative leave after accusations of inappropriate behaviour towards female students during his LSU stint. Miles and Kansas went separate paths in 2021 shortly after he was put on the leave. Miles had not coached any team since his departure.

As per the College Football Hall of Fame eligibility criteria, a coach can file nomination only three full seasons after retiring. The National Football Foundation, the Hall of Fame overseeing body, would then assess the Miles' case depending on his qualifications.

LSU Tigers women created history Sunday as they beat Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 to clinch their first ever NCAA College Basketball title. Tigers' Angel Reese, meanwhile, mocked player of the year and Iowa's sensation Caitlin Clark.

Reese did the famous 'you can't see me' gesture in the final seconds before pointing to her ring finger, suggesting the title win. Notably, the taunt, which has been made famous by wrestler John Cena, was first done by Clark herself during Iowa's Elite Eight win.

Reese and Clark went head-to-head as they scored 15 points, 10 rebounds and 30 points, for Tigers and Hawkeyes, respectively. Reese, however, won the most outstanding player of the tournament award.

"I don't care about anybody else and what they have to say about me," Reese said after the game. "That's the difference between me and a lot of people. I don't. The biggest goal for me is the national championship. I don't care to be All-American. I don't care to be defensive player of the year, player of the year. The biggest goal is to be a national champion, and that's what I did."

Clark, however, said she didn't have any idea about Reese's gesture. Clark's coach, Lisa Bluder, made a comment on the gesture.

"I’m sure she was really proud of her accomplishment, and I would be really proud of my accomplishment if I won the national championship. We are all different people, with different ways to show emotions. I’ve got to focus on what I can control," she said.

Louisiana State University blew past the University of Iowa and national player of the year Caitlin Clark 102-85 on Sunday to win the coveted women's NCAA collegiate basketball crown.

LSU scored the most points in the history of the women's title game, an early three-point barrage staking them to a 17-point halftime lead.

Jasmine Carson led the Tigers with 22 points, 21 of them in the first half, while Alexis Morris scored all 16 of hers after the break.

Star center Angel Reese scored 15 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and handed out five assists and was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player.

Reese, who set a record with 34 double-doubles during the season, wasn't shy about celebrating as the final moments ticked off in a game that saw LSU coach Kim Mulkey earn her sixth championship as a player or coach -- her fourth as a head coach after she led Baylor to titles in 2005, 2012 and 2019.

Clark had shot to prominence with a 41-point triple-double in a victory over Louisville and followed that up with another 41-point outburst on Friday as the Hawkeyes stunned the unbeaten South Carolina Gamecocks to reach the final.

Reese and Clark had helped drive massive interest, the womens' final drawing a sell-out crowd of 19,482 in Dallas.

But it was Carson who took charge early. She finished with five of Louisiana State's 11 three-pointers.

LSU also out-rebounded Iowa 37-26, their 14 offensive rebounds resulting in 14 second-chance points and Clark's 30 points just weren't enough.

Reese's "you can't see me" taunting of Clark in the waning seconds sparked criticism but Clark, a notorious trash-talker herself, insisted she wasn't aware.
