The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) said on Tuesday that people of Jammu and Kashmir must unite under a common national identity and need to be Indians first, and urged Kashmiris to disassociate themselves from terrorists not just in principle, but also in practice.

The senior RSS functionary further said, &ldquo;Today Pakistan is standing on the brink that Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, POJK, and Punjab (Pakistan) are demanding independence from it. Pakistan is standing on the brink of breaking up. They think that by creating hatred against India, they will save themselves, but this is not possible...&rdquo;
He also targeted the Congress party and said, &ldquo;Congress leaders can only digest their food when they abuse the Prime Minister. If the army is going to fight, they will oppose the Army commander. They will not do any good work for society but will defame those who do.&rdquo;

The Centre on Saturday also asked all states to ensure safety and security of the students and people from Jammu and Kashmir living in their areas.

Delhi Police arrested four men Saturday for allegedly assaulting a Kashmiri woman in southeast Delhi's Sunlight Colony, a senior police officer said.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik informed Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba that the incident was a local issue, triggered by a dispute over feeding stray dogs and had nothing to do with the woman's origin.

On Thursday night, the victims, including four women, were allegedly surrounded and <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/delhi-group-of-kashmiris-get-beaten-up-by-mob-136185">roughed up by a mob</a> of around 30-40 people. A police case was registered following a complaint from one of the women. She had alleged that she was physically assaulted by the mob.

The police arrested the four men -- Kalyan, a security guard, and three locals, SN Pandey, RK Chopra and Anil Lath -- on the basis of CCTV footage collected from the area.

The complainant has alleged that they were targeted because of their Kashmiri origin.

"My sisters were abused and beaten up. I have a broken left hand and a person who had come to visit us was also attacked. It was a planned attack and the accused were carrying hockey sticks," one of the victims had told PTI.

He had claimed that the accused were shouting slogans like "Kashmiri terrorists should be sent back".

He had also claimed that they had asked for police protection on May 2, but did not get any help.

"The main culprit is yet to be arrested. We have informed the police about his involvement but they have not taken any action against him. We have not been given police protection even after the incident," he told PTI today.

Woman was not assaulted because she was Kashmiri: Delhi Police Commissioner

The Kashmiris said the mob kept shouting 'Kashmiri terrorists should be sent back' as they attacked them

According to reports, a group of Kashmiris was allegedly thrashed in Delhi's Sunlight Colony last night. The group included five people, including four women, who were beaten up by a mob of nearly 30 people. The victims maintain that they were targeted because they were Kashmiri. "My sisters were abused and beaten up. I have a broken left hand and one of my guests who had come to visit us was also attacked. It was a planned attack and the accused were carrying hockey sticks," said one of the victims. Those targeted reported that the mob kept shouting, 'Kashmiri terrorists should be sent back' while attacking them. According to a PTI report, the victims had shared that they were attacked twice previously and had been living in fear in the colony. Another version of the episode, according to reports, suggests that a woman was confronted for regularly feeding stray dogs. This comes after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh earlier in the day appealed to all the states to ensure the safety of the Kashmiris.

&quot;Last evening I got to know that some Kashmiri youth have been mistreated. I appeal to all the Chief Ministers to ensure that no Kashmiri youth is mistreated in any part of the nation. Even they are part of India. No one can rubbish this truth that many people from Kashmir are contributing to India&#39;s safety and prosperity,&quot; Singh told ANI.

He said he has asked the Home Ministry to immediately circulate an advisory to all states in this regard.

&quot;The incident is extremely unfortunate and I condemn it. Strict action will be taken against anyone who mistreats any Kashmiri youth. I appeal to all the youth to consider them as their brother. They are citizens of our country and part of our family. The people should understand this reality,&quot; he added.

At least eight Kashmiri students, studying at Rajasthan&#39;s Mewar University were allegedly beaten up by the locals as they were upset over soldiers being targeted by stone pelters in the strife-torn border state.
