Here are the edited excerpts from our chat:

WION: This is your first Hindi film. What was your experience like working on a different-language film set?

Jaya: This film and the character that I have played in the film was very new. It was a fresh experience for me. The whole team was incredible. Tony da was very nice, he always had my back. The script was very engaging and something that I hadn't come across before.

Kadak Singh will always have a special place for me. The artists, the directorial team, crew, producer– we were all on the same page. The journey has been amazing. It went smoother than I expected, and everyone who played a part in my journey has been kind.

On working with Pankaj Tripathi

WION: How was it like sharing the screen with Pankaj Tripathi?

Jaya: He’s not only a good artist but a very good human being which is why I think genuinity reflects in his work. He takes utmost delight in his work and is fuss-free on the set. I loved working with him. In the beginning, I was a bit nervous to collaborate with him but he made me very comfortable. Pankaj Ji makes things very comfortable. He is very fond of good food. We had a lot of talking points as he’s quite abreast with Bangladesh’s political, social issues. We also shared a common interest in gardening. We bonded over that.

On Jaya's Indian connect

WION: On another note, do you often come to India?

Jaya: India feels like home. I have been working in India for sometime now in Bengali films. So there was no real difference working in Kadak Singh apart from being a project in a different language. On the set, everyone was very welcoming.

WION: If given a chance, would you like to do a masala entertainer with any Indian actor in the industry?

Jaya: A film like Jawan is also a masala film, so if I get a character which has depth, I will definitely want to be a part of that.

Jaya: Everyone enjoys a good film whether it's from Bollywood or Hollywood and as we share so many similarities in culture. So yes, Bollywood films travel to Bangladesh.

WION: Now that Kadak Singh is out and being streamed, what's something you want to say to your Indian fans?

With her film barely a few days away from its official premiere on ZEE5 on December 8, Sanjana spoke about how makers and the cast worked to blend the different genres that this film caters to while giving a performance that will entertain the audiences. She said, “This was something we all had to sit down and work on together as a team. Tony Da, along with his brilliant team of Associate Directors Shami, Anush, Pankaj Sir, and myself, as well as the rest of the cast when required spent a significant amount of time amidst presentations, excel sheets, and flow charts. The script demanded such elements; there were numerous timelines, plot points, etc etc. That one had to really work on it. I won't delve into the technical details because those can be quite boring. It all goes back to just steller writing—figuring out the character arcs while unraveling the thriller was the most enjoyable part.”

She added, "I hadn't realised how much fun it could be to bring emotionality into a thriller, and now that the bug has bitten and I've tasted blood with this, I think it is something that I'm going to keep going back to in my journey ahead because it is such fun as an artist and as a team to get to do that. So yes, it ultimately boils down to thorough preparation, spending time, and striving for brilliant writing. I think these would be the answers."

Pankaj Tripathi and Sanjana Sanghi starrer Kadak Singh has been making a buzz much before its official premiere. The mystery film that falls somewhere between the bridges of an emotional drama and a whodunnit, Kadak Singh opened to a crackling response as the makers introduced their film with its trailer at the recently concluded International Film Festival of India in Goa.

The mystery film that falls somewhere between the bridges of an emotional drama and a whodunnit, Kadak Singh opened to a crackling response as the makers introduced their film with its trailer at the recently concluded International Film Festival of India in Goa. Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the film promises to blow away the audience with its story. The film, Kadak Singh, tells the story of a man who was investigating a financial crime when he found himself in a hospital, in a state of retrograde amnesia with severe memory lapses of his time before the diagnosis and the subsequent hospitalisation. Kadak is played by Pankaj Tripathi who starts discovering who he is and what his life was before the diagnosis. Sanjana plays Sakshi, Kadak’s daughter, whom he has forgotten completely.
