Actress Meera Chopra, best known for starring in legal drama 'Section 375', on Wednesday said she was bombarded with threats of violence and rape on social media after she said she did not know about south film star Junion NTR and was a fan of Mahesh Babu. 
 
The actress, who is Priyanka Chopra's cousin, had recently held a chat session - #AskMeera - with her fans on Twitter in which she was asked about her favourite actor from South cinema. The actress admitted she was a bigger fan of Mahesh Babu than Junior NTR after which she started receiving abusive messages on Twitter.

"I conducted 'Ask Meera' session on Twitter and a fan asked me about my favourite actor from the south film industry. I said Mahesh Babu. Then somebody asked if I liked Junior NTR, and I said I don't know him and I'm not a fan. That's it. 
"As soon as I said that, I was bombarded with abuses, murder threats, rape threats, character assassination and threats against my parents. Some morphed my face with porn actors. I've got close to 30,000 abusive tweets so far," Meera said in a statement. 
 
The actress said she will be taking strict action in this matter. 
 
"I am already in talks with the cyber cell team. I've always advocated that women should fight for themselves and stand against what's wrong. Then how can I not do anything about this. 
 
"You cannot character assassinate a woman, give threats, and abuse her for sharing her choice. I have to raise my voice against such fan clubs" Meera said. 
 
The 36-year-old actor said she feels sad for superstars who have such a toxic fanbase. The stars should address such fan clubs instead of staying quiet. The actress even tagged Junior NTR on some of the abusive tweets and hopes that he "responds to his fans". 
 
Junior NTR, whose real name is Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, is a Telugu cinema star and the grandson of legendary actor-politician N. T. Rama Rao, who was known among his fans as NTR. 
 
This isn't the first time that an actress has been targetted by fans of a south star. In 2018, Malayalam actress Parvathy received similar threats when she called out Mammooty's film 'Kasaba' for its misogyny.

For those who have been waiting for SS Rajamouli to announce his next project, there is news. After the hugely successful 'Baahubali' series, the ace director is making a film with top Telugu stars Ram Charan and Junior NTR. 
 
Titled 'RRR,' the film would also feature Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and British actress Daisy Edgar Jones in important roles and is reportedly going to have a budget of Rs 350 crore-Rs 400 crore, which makes it probably the most expensive film being made in the Telugu film industry. The film's budegt is at par with the combined budget of two Baahubali films that Rajamouli made.&nbsp; 
 
The film is a "fictional tale" based on the lives of two freedom fighters in early 20th century-- Alluri Sitarama Raju and Kumram Bheem. 
 
"It's a completely fictional tale about two real heroes. That is what the story is about," Rajamouli told reporters at ab event on Thursday. 
 
Throwing more light, he said, there are similarities in the lives of Sitarama Raju and Kumram Bheem. 
 
Born in 1897 in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Sitarama Raju led a historic rebellion against British rule.&nbsp;After a relentless chase, he was caught and martyred in 1924.&nbsp;Kumram Bheem was born in 1901 in Adilabad region in Telangana and fought against the then Nizam rule. 
 
"The two great warriors, who took part in the freedom struggle, who never met, had no connection, what if they met in times unknown to us, if they were an inspiration to each other, how they fought against the British or the Nizam rule, if that is formed on the basis of their friendship.&nbsp;I found it very interesting and exciting," Rajamouli said. 
 
The film would be made on a large scale budget and had required a lot of research, causing delay in launching the project, he added. 
 
Ajay Devgan has agreed to do a very strong role in the film and is excited to be part of the venture, he noted. 
 
Alia Bhatt, who would be paired opposite Ram Charan is excited about the film. 
 
Daisy Edgar Jones would be playing opposite Junior NTR, grandson of legendary N T Rama Rao. 
 
The film would be made in multiple languages and RRR would be common the title.&nbsp;It will have a different expansion in each language.
