Well-known Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi has extended support to the anti-government protests that took place in Iran last month. Thousands of protestors were killed owing to clashes with the security forces.

He may be a decorated filmmaker, having won accolades worldwide, but Iran has sentenced Jafar Panahi to one year of jail due to his ‘propaganda activities’ against the country. The filmmaker has been also been barred from travelling for two years.
