Iran has warned neighbouring countries against joining what Tehran describes as a United States economic war against Iran, threatening action against the interests of countries that participate in economic restrictions.

The warning was issued by Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary during an interview with state television. He said countries taking part in economic restrictions against Iran would be regarded as enemies and warned that Tehran could target their interests if they refused to distance themselves from Washington.

Iranian officials also warned that further US sanctions could lead Tehran to target American oil and economic companies in the region and elsewhere.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf met Iraqi President Nizar Amedi in Baghdad on Wednesday, August 19, for talks focused on regional developments and bilateral relations.

According to the Iraqi Presidency, President Amedi reaffirmed Iraq’s support for efforts aimed at ending conflicts and resolving regional crises. He stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomatic channels in addressing outstanding issues.

Qalibaf highlighted the historic ties between Iran and Iraq and reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to greater coordination and cooperation with Baghdad across various fields.

The meeting comes as both countries continue discussions on regional developments, diplomatic efforts and strengthening bilateral relations.
