<p>After landslides and floods triggered by heavy rains killed at least 53 people in Iran, rescuers searched for the missing on Friday.</p>

<p>Following two days of floods, 16 people were still missing and 400 towns and villages in 18 of Iran’s 31 provinces were adversely affected as per the head of emergency operations at the Red Crescent Society, Mehdi Valipour.</p>

<p>Tehran governor Mohsen Mansouri told state TV that at least 10 people died in the foothills of the Alborz Mountains northeast of the capital Tehran on Friday.</p>

<p>Highlighting that around six people were missing, he said that trekkers were still heading toward Firouz Kooh despite repeated warnings.</p>

<p>Located approximately 140 km (90 miles) from Tehran, Firouz Kooh has lush trails which are popular with trekkers and it is also a favourite retreat for vacationers because of its cool summer temperatures.</p>

<p>14 people were reported missing by state media after a landslide in the village of Imamzadeh Davood northwest of Tehran that was caused by floods and damaged a religious shrine there.</p>

<p>Due to climate change, not only has Iran suffered from regular flooding after torrential rainfall, the largely arid country has also witnessed repeated drought over the past decade.</p>

<p>At least 76 people were killed by heavy rains in southern Iran that caused damage estimated at more than $2 billion in 2019.</p>

In Iran, flash floods have left at least eight people dead and 14 injured in the southern region of the country, according to the officials, the deluge is expected to last until later this week. The spokesman for the national rescue service has said that the floods and the rainfall reported in the past few days led to an increase in casualties and deaths.

<p>At least 12 people were killed and 68 injured in floods that have swept across most Iranian provinces, the country's emergency services said Monday.</p>

<p>National Emergency Service chief Pir Hossein Koolivand told state television the initial casualty toll in the southern city of Shiraz was 11 dead and 68 wounded, while another person was killed in Sarpol-e Zahab in the western province of Kermanshah.</p>

<p>Iran has been facing unprecedented floods in 25 of its 31 provinces, the country's Crisis Management Organisation said.</p>

<p>The latest floods have struck mostly west and southwest Iran and follow major flooding on March 19 in the northeast's Golestan and Mazandaran provinces, for which no official casualty toll has been issued.</p>

<p>Emergency services have been hampered by Iranian New Year holidays, with many employees on vacation.</p>

<p>The Crises Management Organisation and the health ministry, in charge of hospitals, have cancelled all leave and been placed on full alert, while provincial chiefs have been ordered to remain at their posts.</p>

<p>Iran's meteorological service has warned that the rains will carry on into Wednesday.</p>
