InterGlobe Aviation, which operates country's top carrier IndiGo airlines, announced that Aditya Ghosh, the President and whole-time Director of IndiGo has stepped down effective July 31, after being with the company for 10 years.

In a statement issued post a Board meeting held on Friday, the company announced that its Chairman, Rahul Bhatia, will function as the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as well as the Director of the company.

Ghosh said&nbsphe would be resigning in order to take up his "next adventure" and expressed his good wished to the airline for their expansion spree.

The airline Board announced that Ghosh`s resignation as President of the Company would be effective from July 31.

Founded in 2006 by travel entrepreneur Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal, a former chief executive of US Airways, low-cost IndiGo has grown rapidly to become the country's largest airline with a market share of 39.7 per cent as of end-March.

Ghosh, a trained lawyer, joined the company in 2008.

IndiGo also announced the return of Greg Taylor to the Board of the company as a Senior Advisor.&nbsp

Ghosh, who has been with IndiGo for ten years, announced that he would be resigning in order to take up his "next adventure" and expressed his good wished to the airline for their expansion spree.

Olympic silver medallist shuttler PV Sindhu today accused an Indigo airline ground staff of misbehaving with her while travelling from Hyderabad to Mumbai, calling it a very bad experience.

World number two Sindhu claimed that the staff behaved rudely with her and an air hostess intervened to advise him against doing so.

Indigo airlines has expressed &quot;unsolicited interest&quot; in the Air India disinvestment process,&nbsp;India&#39;s Civil Aviation Ministry said on Thursday.

It will also decide on the quantum of disinvestment in Air India and the universe of bidders.

Top officials said the government&#39;s decision to look at ways to privatise Air India is in line with its efforts in the past two years for a turnaround of the Rs 52,000 crore debt-ridden airline, which is surviving on a bailout package of Rs 30,000 crore approved in 2012.

&quot;The present management has been able to bring about a turnaround in the airline. From Rs 105 crore operating profit in 2016, Air India is now at an unaudited operational profit of Rs 220 crore,&quot; Choubey said.

He said its losses were down from Rs 3,900 crore to Rs 3,300 crore.

&quot;Now there is an airline worth looking at and it is a cash positive airline operationally. Once we handle the issue of debt it is a valuable airline,&quot; Choubey said.

Indigo airlines expresses interest in buying Air India; the next steps

TDP MP J C Diwakar Reddy has been banned by all domestic airlines following his alleged unruly behaviour at the Visakhapatnam airport as he was denied boarding for an IndiGo flight.
