Separatists in Nigeria on Saturday announced a suspension of a weekly protest over the arrest of their leader, a spokesman for the group said in a statement. The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which wants a separate state for the ethnic Igbo people in the southeast of the country, had recently called on businesses in the oil-rich region to close every Monday.
