A 15-year-old Indian girl, who was reported missing earlier in the week, has been found hiding in the terrace of her home here after her parents scolded her for poor grades in school, according to a media report.

Harini Karani was reported missing following her morning walk in Dubai on Thursday morning, the Gulf News reported.

The girl was hiding on the roof of her house in Umm Suqiem, Dubai, as she was sad after her parents confiscated her mobile phone for getting poor grades in school, Dubai Police told the daily.

"The family alerted police about their daughter going missing since the morning and they rushed and sought people's help too by sharing the incident on social media platforms. Her parents were afraid that their daughter might harm herself,"&nbsp;the Gulf News reported quoting an official.

Dubai Police solved the cases in a few hours and Karani has safely returned to her family.

Karani studies in a UK-curriculum school in Al Barsha here.&nbsp;

The Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth on Friday said Singhal's initiative has prevented empty glass bottles of getting dumped into landfills and turned it into sands, making it commercially viable.

The statement by the UN envoy also said these bottles don't decompose for a million years, referring to the significance of the teenager's work.&nbsp;

"As a Young Leader for the SDGs, I will be an active agent of change. I hope to be able to encourage communities to embrace a better civic sense to create sustainable living spaces like when mountain-high landfills are detonated," Singhal said in the statement, reported news agency PTI.&nbsp;

The website of this teenager says that he started the project in late 2018 when the demand for glass bottles dropped considerably because of the requirement of large storage spaces and huge transporting cost.&nbsp;

It adds that Singhal's initiative helped in preventing 8,000 bottles from going into landfills and produced 4,815 kilograms of high-grade silica sand.

The desperate search for the 15-year-old began on Sunday evening after the youngster and her friends got into trouble at Glenelg Beach around 5.50 pm.

The teenager, in Adelaide for the Pacific School Games, was swimming with a group of four friends - also junior sports stars - when they got into trouble on Sunday.

Surf lifesavers were able to pull the group from the water, but an emergency search for the girl had to be called off late on Sunday evening because of poor light.

As of Monday, two of the 17-year-old girls from the group remains at the Flinders Medical Centre, with one in a critical condition and one of the teens remaining in a stable condition.&nbsp;Another 17-year-old girl is at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition and a 12-year-old girl is at the Women&#39;s and Children&#39;s Hospital in a stable condition.

Three children have tragically drowned at the popular beach since 2007.
