India has formally requested Pakistan to expedite the release and repatriation of 184 Indian fishermen who have completed their sentence, along with immediate consular access to the remaining 12 civilian prisoners believed to be Indian.

India's ministry of external affairs on Monday summoned a senior Pakistan diplomat over the killing of an Indian fisherman by the Pakistani Maritime Security Agency (PMSA ) off the coast of Gujarat.

According to list exchanged on July 1, Pakistan has 209 Indian fishermen and 52 Indian prisoners in its custody while India has 256 Pakistani civilian prisoners and 99 fishermen in its custody.
