An Indian citizen has been arrested in Britain by Scotland Yard for allegedly funding the banned terrorist outfit Hezbollah. The nabbed individual has been identified as 66-year-old&nbsp;Sundar Nagarajan and hailed from Madurai, a district in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

According to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police, Nagarajan, also known as&nbsp;&nbsp;Kasiviswanathan Naga and Nagarajan Sundar Poongulam was presented before the court where he was denied bail.

"Sundar Nagarajan, (27.08.57) of Hayes UB3, was taken into police custody before appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court this afternoon for commencement of extradition proceedings," read the statement, adding that he is scheduled to appear for the next court hearing on April 25.&nbsp;

Nagarajan was arrested in West London by the officers from the National Extradition Unit,&nbsp;following an international arrest warrant. He could be extradited to the US where he faces charges of laundering money and supplying it to&nbsp;Hezbollah.&nbsp;

His arrest came hot on the heels of&nbsp;Met’s Counter Terrorism Command arresting&nbsp;one Nazem Ahmad - a wealthy art collector, accused of terrorist financing and money laundering. According to reports,&nbsp;Nagarajan was Ahmad's international accountant and used numerous companies as a front to launder money for the terror organisation.&nbsp;

"Today's arrests are the result of ongoing work and cooperation with our American colleagues, and are a key milestone in what is a complex investigation into terrorist financing," said Detective Chief Superintendent Gareth Rees, of the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.&nbsp;

"With our international partners, we will never give up on our mission to disrupt terrorist activity, both in the UK and abroad, in order to keep the public safe," he added.&nbsp;

Notably,&nbsp;Hezbollah is a Shia terror outfit, majorly operating in Lebanon, backed by Iran which the Conservative government in the UK&nbsp;classified as a terrorist organisation in 2019.&nbsp;

A US citizen was among those killed in a powerful truck bomb attack against a heavily fortified foreign compound in Kabul this week, officials said Wednesday, as the government continued investigating the blast site.&nbsp;&nbsp;

It was not clear if they were included in the four dead, with some Afghan officials giving conflicting tolls.&nbsp;

"We have launched an investigation and it has not finished yet. Once we finish the investigation we will be able to release the final toll," Najib Danish, the interior ministry spokesman, said.&nbsp;

The powerful blast ripped through surrounding neighbourhoods, shattering the windows of surrounding houses and shops.&nbsp;

It came as US peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad visits the region for meetings aimed at bringing an end to the 17-year war in Afghanistan, which by some estimates was the world's deadliest conflict zone in 2018.

India yesterday sought consular access to its national Hamid Ansari, who was attacked in a Pakistan jail twice recently. 
 
Inmates assaulted 31-year-old Ansari, who was sentenced to three years in prison by a military court for possessing a fake Pakistani identity card, in a Peshawar jail. The Mumbai resident suffered serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. 
 
His lawyer told the high court bench that Ansari had been kept in a death cell with a hardened criminal on death row.&nbsp;Spokesperson of India&#39;s foreign ministry, Vikas Swarup, asked Pakistan to allow Ansari to speak to his family. 
 
&quot;The petition was filed following earlier reports that Hamid Ansari was attacked in prison. Through our high commission in Islamabad, the government has also raised the matter of Ansari&#39;s well-being and his early release. We have also reiterated our earlier stand and request for consular access and asked the government of Pakistan to allow him to speak to his family,&quot; Swarup added. 
 
Hamid&#39;s mother, Fauzia Ansari, urged the Indian government to put pressure on Pakistan to seek his release as he had served his sentence. 
 
&quot;He has served his three years sentence, given to him by then (Pakistan). Now, there should be no hindrance to bring him back. We should try to bring him back instead of asking for security to protect him against violence. The India government should try to bring him back as soon as possible,&quot; Fauzia said in Mumbai.
