Daksh Gupta found himself in the middle of a heated debate after making a post on X saying he expects his employees to have “no work-life balance”, working 84 hours a week, and sometimes even on weekends.

“Recently I started telling candidates right in the first interview that Greptile offers no work-life balance, typical workdays start at 9 am and end at 11 pm, often later, and we work Saturdays, sometimes also Sundays. I emphasize the environment is high stress, and there is no tolerance for poor work,” he wrote on X, adding that “transparency is good” rather than people finding it out later on their first day.

The post received a flood of reactions from social media users. While most users called the work environment at his company “toxic”, the CEO also claimed to receive some death threats and many job applications.

Like people said in the comments, as we mature we’ll hire older, more experienced people who have families and can’t work 100 hours a week, and naturally we would adapt like any good organization.”

“This is NOT meant to be prescriptive,” he added.

'Hired at 2:47am': Internet is going gaga over Indian-American CEO's flash hiring process

Indian American Raj Subramaniam has been appointed to head the US multinational courier delivery giant FedEx, as he joins the growing list of Indian origin executives taking charge of an iconic American company.

Subramanian will succeed Frederick W Smith, chairman and CEO, who will step down from this position on June 1, 2022. &nbsp;FedEx has 600,000 employees across the globe.

Smith, who had founded FedEx in 1971, will now be the company’s executive chairman.

Subramaniam was elected to the FedEx Board of Directors in 2020 and will maintain his seat on the Board, the company said.

"As we look toward what's next, I have a great sense of satisfaction that a leader of the calibre of Raj Subramaniam will take FedEx into a very successful future," Smith said in a statement.

"In his new role, I look forward to focusing on board governance as well as issues of global importance, including sustainability, innovation, and public policy,” he added.

Subramaniam is from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram and now lives in Memphis, Tennessee – FedEx’s global headquarters.

The 56-year-old has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from IIT Bombay, a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University, and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin.

A former Indian American CEO of an IT company based in the US city of Detroit has been indicted for his alleged role in orchestrating a scheme to bribe a city official to obtain benefits, the Department of Justice said today.

According to the 11-count indictment filed in the Eastern District of Michigan, Parimal D Mehta, 54, made multiple cash payments to Charles Dodd, former Director of Detroit&#39;s Office of Departmental Technology Services between 2009 to 2016.

This included two cash bribes hand-delivered by Mehta to Dodd in the restrooms of Detroit-area restaurants in 2016, the DOJ alleged.

Mehta is also alleged to have employed Dodd&#39;s family members at FutureNet and its subsidiaries. Dodd previously pleaded guilty to bribery on September 27, 2016.

The indictment alleges that Mehta paid these bribes to Dodd in exchange for preferential treatment for his company, FutureNet, which received approximately USD 7.5 million from Detroit in 2015 and 2016.

According to the indictment, Mehta and FutureNet benefitted from Dodd&#39;s influence over the administration of city contracts, expenditures under those contracts, and the hiring and selection of contract personnel.

Mehta obtained confidential information about Detroit&#39;s internal budgets for specific technology projects, the indictment alleges.&nbsp;
