Notably, Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in October 2023 in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. He was granted bail this year in April.

In addition to Singh, the ED also arrested other APP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and ex-deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the same case.&nbsp;

The Delhi government had implemented the policy on November 17, 2021. But it was scrapped at the end of September 2022. Corruption allegations have been levelled against the party, which AAP denies.

AAP lost all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.&nbsp;

Singh recently accused the BJP of "messing" with the health of Kejriwal, who is currently&nbsp;in Tihar jail. While addressing a press conference, he said that the chief minister's medical report shows that anything can happen to him at any time.&nbsp;

"The BJP is messing with Kejriwal’s health. Initially, they were saying that he is eating sweets and trying to spike his sugar levels but now they are saying that he has reduced his food intake. Why will someone do this and pose a threat to their own life?" Singh said.&nbsp;

"There is a conspiracy to kill Kejriwal," he added.&nbsp;

Jitendra Singh, India's Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, said that lithium deposits have been found in the southwest state&nbsp;of Karnataka, a government press release mentioned.&nbsp;

In a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Thursday (Jul 25), the minister stated that the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD), which is a constituent unit of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), has found the presence of lithium resources in the Mandya and Yadgiri districts of the state.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Singh informed that AMD has established 1,600 tonnes (G3 stage) of lithium resources in the Marlagalla area, Mandya district.&nbsp;

Lithium is mostly used in rechargeable batteries for electric cars, laptops, digital cameras and cell phones. Certain non-rechargeable batteries for devices like toys, heart pacemakers and clocks also include lithium.&nbsp;

While highlighting the presence of lithium reserves,&nbsp;Singh said that AMD has also been exploring lithium in the potential geological domains in parts of Korba District in Chhattisgarh.&nbsp;

He added that, however, the major mica belts located in Rajasthan, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh and Pegmatite Belts in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka are the potential geological domains in the country for lithium resources.&nbsp;

Singh said that although several small modular reactor designs and technologies released by overseas vendors and nations are being examined to obtain technical specifics, no proposal to work with foreign vendors or nations is being considered at this time.&nbsp;

He further mentioned that the Indian and Russian governments have expressed interest in expanding the cooperation in the field of the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes including cooperation in the field of Small Modular Reactor.&nbsp;

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Thursday (July 25) on the sidelines of Association of Southeast Asian Nations meetings in Laos.

The ministers emphasised the need for an early resolution of the issues along the two countries' disputed&nbsp;Line of Actual Control.

The boundary separates the territories held by India and China. The boundary runs along India's Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.&nbsp;

<h2>Why were troops stationed along LAC?</h2>

In July 2020, the relations between the two countries deteriorated after at least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a military clash with the Chinese&nbsp;-&nbsp;China&nbsp;refused to reveal the number of deaths on its side, though several reports claimed the casualties were high.

The situation led to a long-running standoff in the mountainous area and tens of thousands of military personnel were stationed on each side with artillery, tanks and fighter jets.

According to a statement released by the Indian government, the two foreign ministers “agreed on the need to work with purpose and urgency to achieve complete disengagement at the earliest".

It added that peace on the border is important to restore normalcy in ties between the two nations.

In his opening remarks, Jaishankar said the border issues have “cast a shadow” over India-China ties in the last four years even after considerable efforts being made by the two countries to solve the issue.

“The state of the border will necessarily be reflected on the state of our ties,” the minister said.
