<p>WION also sought a response from the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs if they have taken note of Pannun's threats to blow up an AI flight on Nov 19.</p>

<p>Acknowledging the question asked by WION, "Is the Canadian government planning any action on this threat?" the authorities responded by saying they would be looking into the matter.&nbsp;However, as of now, specific details are still awaited.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gurpatwant Singh Pannun had said, "We are asking Sikhs not to fly AI on 19th November. There will be a global blockade, and AI will not be allowed to fly anywhere across the world on 19th November. Sikhs, you do not travel by AI after the 19th. It can be life-threatening."<br />

The warning is alarming since Khalistani terrorists had bombed Air India's Boeing 747 'Kanishka' flight from Toronto to India in 1985, killing 329 passengers, including 268 Canadian citizens of Indian origin and 24 Indians.</p>

<p>Pannun also issued a warning to the Government of India, saying, "The Indira Gandhi International Airport should remain closed on the 19th of November."</p>

India to raise Khalistani threats issue with Canada, seek heightened security for Air India flights

<p>India has decided to resume its visa services to Canadians, weeks after temporarily closing down the services in the wake of tensions between both countries over the row on the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.</p>

<p>The Indian High Commission in Ottawa on Wednesday in a press statement said that they are resuming some visa services with effect from October 26.</p>

<p>“After a considered review of the security situation that takes into account some recent Canadian measures in this regard, it has been decided to resume visa services," it said.</p>

<p>"Further decisions, as appropriate, would be intimated based on continuing evaluation of the situation," it added.</p>

<p>India will resume visa services for entry visa, business visa, medical visa, and conference visa, the High Commission said.</p>

<p>The development came after Canada withdrew 41 of its envoys on the request of the Indian government, which had sought parity in the presence of diplomats.</p>

<h2><strong>Jaishankar wanted assurances from Canada to restart services&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>On Sunday, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that they would "very much to resume the issuing of visas" provided Indian envoys are provided safety in Canada as per the Vienna Convention.</p>

<p>"If we see progress in the safety of our diplomats in Canada, we would like to resume issuance of visas there," Jaishankar said.</p>

<p>He also brushed aside the statements by the US and the UK over making Canada withdraw 41 of its 62 diplomats, both of whom claimed that it falls contrary to the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.</p>

<p>“Parity (between the diplomatic presence of the two countries in each other’s capitals) is very much provided for by the Vienna Convention, which is the relevant international rule on this. In our case, we invoked parity because we had concerns about continuous interference in our affairs by Canadian personnel,” Jaishankar said while speaking at an event in New Delhi on Sunday.</p>

<p>“The relationship right now is going through a difficult phase. But I do want to say, you know, the problems we have are with a certain segment of Canadian politics and the policies, which flow from that,” said the external affairs minister, replying to a question on the Canada-India diplomatic row. &nbsp;“So, I want people to understand the extent of the issue.</p>

<p>In the midst of strained diplomatic ties between India and Canada, New Delhi is set to raise concerns with the Canadian speaker of the Senate during the Parliament-20 meeting of the G20 nations' presiding officers, which is scheduled to take place next week in the national capital, said Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday (Oct 6).</p>

<p>The presiding officers of 25 countries and 10 deputy speakers from the G20 member nations and invitee countries are expected to take part in the P20 Summit which will be held at the India International Convention and Expo Centre, Yashobhoomi, at Dwarka on Oct 13 and 14.</p>

<p>The G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Oct 13.</p>

<p>Canada will be represented by Speaker of the Senate Raymonde Gagne at the P20 Summit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We will discuss issues that have been listed for the summit. Other issues will be discussed informally," Birla said on being asked whether the matter of using the Canadian Parliament to level allegations against India will be raised with the Canadian presiding officer.</p>

Addressing a press conference in Washington DC, Foreign Minister Jaishankar said, "Well, I don't know if I would use the term deadlock..."</p>

<p>"The issue is as follows: The Canadians have made some allegations. We have pointed out to them that this is not the Government of India's policy and if they are prepared to share with us specifics and anything relevant, we are also open to looking at it," Jaishankar added.</p>

<h2><strong>Jaishankar highlights ongoing problem with Canada</strong></h2>

<p>Jaishankar pointed out that the ongoing problem with Ottawa evolves around the permissiveness regarding terrorism, extremism, and violence in Canada.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I mean it is not a secret. They continue to carry on with their activities in Canada and most important, the fact that our diplomatic missions and our diplomatic personnel have been consistently and continuously intimidated in Canada," the Indian foreign minister added.</p>

<p>Jaishankar also mentioned the recent incidents of smoke bombs thrown at Indian missions in Canada along with violence in front of consulates. "Individuals have been targeted and intimidated. There are posters put up about people. So tell me, do you consider this normal?... If this had happened to any other country, how would they react to it?... Let's not normalize what is happening in Canada," he said.</p>

<h2><strong>Raised Nijjar's murder with New Delhi: Blinken</strong></h2>

<p>Jaishankar's press conference comes hours after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he raised the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar with the Indian foreign minister in a meeting on Thursday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We're very concerned about the allegations that have been raised by Canada, by Prime Minister (Justin) Trudeau. We have been in close contact with Canada about that, and at the same time, we have engaged with the Indian government and urge them to work with Canada on an investigation. And I had the opportunity to do so again in my meeting yesterday with Foreign Minister (Subrahmanyam) Jaishankar," Blinken said in a press conference.</p>

<p>"Those responsible need to be held accountable and we hope that our friends in both Canada and India will work together to resolve this matter,” he added.</p>

<p>Earlier, neither Blinken nor the US State Department made any mention of raising the murder of Nijjar during Thursday's meeting with Jaishankar.</p>

<p>"The Americans will certainly discuss this matter with the Indian government," Trudeau told reporters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was labelled a terrorist by New Delhi in 2020, was killed by two identified men in British Columbia in June.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Trudeau, earlier this month, told Canadian Parliament that his government had "credible allegations" that Indian government agents may be linked to the killing, prompting an angry reaction from the New Delhi, which dismissed Ottawa's allegation as absurd.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Have consistently engaged with India over murder row: US</strong></h2>

<p>Amid the standoff between India and Canada over the murder of Nijjar, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Thursday that Washington consistently engaged with New Delhi on this question and has urged them to cooperate.</p>
