The HRD Ministry Wednesday asked for a report over allegations that Hindu and Muslim students were allegedly being segregated into different sections at an NDMC school, even as the Delhi government ordered a probe into the matter.

According to a media report published Wednesday, a section of teachers employed by the NDMC alleged that a primary school in Wazirabad was segregating Hindu and Muslim students in different sections.

"The matter is very serious. It may damage the social fabric of the country. I have asked the director of the Education Department to enquire into the matter and submit the report by Friday," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.&nbsp;

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters, "We haven't received any complaint yet but have read about it in media reports. I have asked for a report."

Earlier in the day, the Education Department of the BJP-led NDMC had directed a senior official to visit and inspect its school in Wazirabad area.

"The director of the Education Department has already instructed a senior official from the zonal office to visit the school and look into the allegation as reported," a source said.

The primary school falls in Wazirabad area of north Delhi and is administered by the NDMC. The area comes under the Civil Lines Zone of the civic body.

All municipal corporation-run schools in Delhi are primary schools. Teachers in other municipal schools expressed their shock over the reports.

"Schools, primary level no less, should be kept away from politics, and religion and caste matters should not be mentioned, for a balanced growth of a child. When a student enters a school, he or she is not a Hindu, Muslim or Sikh or Christian, but an Indian and that is how we should educate them," a teacher in a civic school in Karol Bagh said on the condition of anonymity.

"If the segregation is being done there, then it is condemnable, and we strongly disapprove of it. Schools should unite and not divide people, and these children are such impressionable minds, it will not bode well for their growth," he said.&nbsp;

The ministry of Human Resource Development has formed a high powered committee in order to prevent exam leak and to examine the system of conducting Class X and Class XII examination.

The seven-member committee will have Retired Secretary (Higher education) of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Vinay Sheel Oberoi as its chairperson.

The prime objectives of the committee would to revisit and closely examine all aspects whether it is related to security checks built into the system, to ensure that, question papers reach&nbsp;the examinees from printing presses without any tempering.&nbsp;

It will also assess the weak areas in the present system of transporting question papers and to find loopholes in the process.

Reports say that the committee is planning to increase the use technology to minimize the human intervention after the evaluation of entire process ends.

The committee has been formed amid the Central Bureau of Secondary Education exam leak

&nbsp;CBSE's class XII Economics and class X Mathematics exams were leaked by an inter-state racket last month.&nbsp;

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru was adjudged the overall best institution in the country by the HRD ministry's national ranking framework.

Announcing the rankings at an event at the Vigyan Bhavan here on Tuesday, HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) has been adjudged the best engineering college and the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) the best management institution.

According to the national institutional ranking framework (NIRF), Delhi University's Miranda House was the best college, premier healthcare institute AIIMS the best medical college and NLSIU-Bengaluru the best law school in the country.

In the university category, IISc stood first, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

The Indian Institute of Science was established in 1909 by a visionary partnership of industrialist Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Maharaja of Mysore and the government of India, according to its official website.

Since its inception, the institute has laid a balanced emphasis on the pursuit of basic knowledge in science and engineering, as well as on the application of its research findings for the industrial and social benefit.

In the words of its founder, J N Tata, the objectives of the institute are "to provide for advanced instruction and to conduct original investigations in all branches of knowledge as are likely to promote the material and industrial welfare of India."

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday cleared revised pay scales for nearly eight lakh teachers and academic staff of higher education institutions following the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission.&nbsp;

The decision will benefit 7.58 lakh teachers and equivalent academic staff in 106 universities and colleges which are funded by the UGC and the union HRD ministry and also 329 universities which are funded by state governments and 12,912 government and private aided colleges affiliated to state public universities.&nbsp;

&quot;In addition, the revised pay package will cover teachers of 119 centrally funded technical institutions -- IITs, IISc, IIMs, IISERs, IIITs and NITIE,&quot; a statement said after the meeting.&nbsp;

HRD minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters that the approved pay scales would be applicable from January 1, 2016.&nbsp;

The annual central financial liability on account of this measure would be about Rs 9,800 crore.&nbsp;

&quot;The implementation of the pay revision will enhance the teachers&#39; pay in the range of Rs 10,400 and Rs 49,800 as against the extant entry pay due to the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission for the pay of teachers. This revision would register an entry pay growth in the range of 22 per cent to 28 per cent,&quot; the statement said.&nbsp;

For state government-funded institutions, the revised pay scales will require adoption by the respective state governments.&nbsp;

The Centre will bear the additional burden of the states on account of revision of pay scales. The measures proposed in the revised pay structure are expected to improve quality of higher education and also attract and retain talent, Javadekar said.&nbsp;
