Time and again, the veteran actor has expressed concerns about the increased usage of AI in film and TV. Hanks though has allowed makers to digitally alter versions of himself in films.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The name refers to a podcast the five hosts have put on while they have been off the air.</p>

<p>Bill Maher said he would also be back on screens with his "Real Time" on Friday.</p>

<p>The bulk of film and television production across the United States has been at a standstill since scribes walked out in early May, being joined by actors in July, all seeking a better deal and assurances their jobs won't be lost to artificial intelligence.<br />

But a breakthrough was announced Sunday after intensive talks between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the umbrella body representing studios and streamers.</p>

<p>WGA leaders voted Tuesday to accept the deal and put it to 11,500 members for ratification next week, while calling off the strike from 12.01 am Wednesday.</p>

<p>Details of the deal released by the WGA showed a sizable pay bump for writers, as well as a bonus structure for those working on hit shows.</p>

<p>It also limits the role of AI-generated material -- a key sticking point for both sides, who were wary of hemming themselves in, in a rapidly-evolving landscape that is upending the world of work.</p>

<p>Writers, who got their first glimpse of the deal on Tuesday said they were pleased with the outcome.</p>

<p>"I'm so happy about the gains that we made," Leila Cohan, who was a writer in the hit series "Bridgerton," told AFP.</p>

<p>"I'm so proud that we really went for it. Things got very challenging for many members, and we won... more than many of us believed."</p>

<p><strong>- Actors' strike still unresolved -</strong><br />

Even with the WGA strike almost in the rear-view mirror, Hollywood remains a long way from normal service, with actors -- represented by the SAG-AFTRA union -- still refusing to work.</p>

<p>Scores of Boston University students turned their backs on the head of one of Hollywood’s biggest studios, and some shouted “pay your writers,” as he gave the school’s commencement address Sunday in a stadium where protesters supporting the Hollywood writers’ strike picketed outside.</p>

<p>About 100 protesters chanted “No wages, no pages”, waved signs and were accompanied by an inflatable rat outside Nickerson Field as David Zaslav, president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, gave his address inside the stadium. Thousands of graduating students, family members and educators attending the graduation ceremony had to walk by the protesters to enter the stadium.</p>

<p>Above the stadium, a small plane flew a banner that read, “David Zaslav — pay your writers.”</p>

<p>Kim Caramele, a writer and producer from North Stonington, Connecticut, said she hoped the protesters’ presence at the graduation ceremony helped give students a different perspective on what they should value in life.</p>

<p>“The writers being here today can help show the students that wealth is different than good,” said Caramele, a winner of Emmy and Peabody awards for work on her sister’s show, “Inside Amy Schumer.”</p>

<p>Inside the stadium, scores of students wearing red graduation gowns stood up during Zaslav’s speech and turned their backs on him. Other students booed during his speech and shouted in support of the striking writers.</p>

<p>Saying the rise of streaming has hurt their earning power, about 11,500 members of the Writers Guild for America walked off the job at the beginning of May, after talks on a new contract broke down, and they haven’t returned to the negotiating table since. It’s the first writers’ strike — and the first Hollywood strike of any kind — in 15 years.</p>

<p>The union is seeking higher minimum pay, more writers per show and shorter exclusive contracts, among other demands — all conditions it says have been diminished in the content boom driven by streaming.</p>

<p>The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers has said that it had offered “generous increases in compensation for writers as well as improvements in streaming residuals,” including the highest first-year wage increase in a WGA contract in more than 25 years, and the creation of a new category of rates that would mean a new, higher minimum for mid-level writers.</p>

<p>Dressed in casuals, Hollywood actor and <em>SNL</em> star Pete Davidson showed up with a bunch of hot pizzas at the picket lines full of WGA members in New York City on Friday, which&nbsp;marked 4th day of protest since the union voted to suspend all work, with members&nbsp;striking outside Disney, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Netflix, and other major Hollywood studios.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To show his support for the Writers Guild strike that has brought Hollywood to a standstill, Kim Kardashian's ex-beau spoke to protesters standing outside Silvercup Studios on Friday and gave them authentic pizza pies from the landmark Brooklyn eatery Spumoni Gardens.</p>

<p>"You got Spumonis?" marvelled one picketer in a viral video, to which Davidson replied,&nbsp;"I got Spumoni for everyone. You gotta support the writers, man. No shows without the writers." Check it out below!</p>

His&nbsp;generous move comes days after it was reported&nbsp;that his hosting gig on<em> Saturday Night Live </em>has been cancelled due to the strike. He was supposed to make a return&nbsp;as an SNL host in the May 6 episode.</p>

<p><em>Yellowjackets</em>&nbsp;star Sammi Hanratty and <em>Abbott Elementary</em>&nbsp;creator and star Quinta Brunson also joined WGA strikes in Los Angeles on Wednesday.</p>

<p>TV show hosts and comedians Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers are also in the news for helping pay their crews while their shows are on production hiatus due to the strike.</p>
