India has officially announced the visit of foreign secretary Harsh Shringla to Nepal — a visit that comes in the backdrop of tensions between the two countries earlier this year.&nbsp;

He will be in Nepal from November 26 to 27 and this will be his first such visit to the country after taking charge as the Foreign Secretary.

The ministry of external affairs, in a release announcing the visit said, "The visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries and the priority India attaches to its relations with Nepal. During the visit, Foreign Secretary will meet his counterpart and other Nepalese dignitaries to discuss the wide ranging bilateral cooperation between the two countries."

Kathmandu-Delhi ties hit a low earlier this year after Nepal's KP Sharma Oli government had issued a new map of the country staking a claim on Indian territories. The new Nepal map showed India territories of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura drawing a sharp reaction from New Delhi who called it "unjustified cartographic assertion".

Highlighting the "strong bipartisan support" in the US "to strengthen its strategic partnership with India", India's foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on Thursday that India was looking to work with the new US Administration to "further strengthening and consolidating this multifaceted relationship for our mutual benefit and economic prosperity."

His comments come days after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President-elect Joe Biden spoke with each other. The focus of their discussion was on Indo-Pacific, Covid pandemic, Climate Change among other things.

"As two mature, pluralistic and vibrant democracies with shared values, India and the US are natural partners of choice in forging a stable, peaceful and prosperous 21st century," Shringla pointed out,

"The India-US partnership is anchored in mutual trust and friendship, a shared commitment to democracy, converging strategic interests and the robust engagement of our citizens. I have personally witnessed the growing convergence in the strategic perspectives of India and the US over recent years," he said.

Foreign Secretary also spoke on commercial ties saying New Delhi believed that the US was a "natural partner for India" for its quest for building a resilient economy. &nbsp;&nbsp;

In October, 2+2 Dialogue took place between India and the US. Both sides have also been engaging in the Quad format and Malabar exercises. Foreign Ministers of the Quad countries (India, Australia, Japan and the US) had an in-person meeting in Tokyo earlier this year. New Delhi has also invited Australia for Malabar naval exercises that are underway now in the Indian Ocean.

India will brief foreign envoys and diplomats based in the Indian capital city New Delhi next week in a mega exercise on its COVID action plan. The briefing will take place on November 06 and will be done by India's foreign secretary Harsh Shringla.

The focus will also be on the vaccine, with Health minister Harsh Vardhan claimed expressing hope that by early 2021 India will likely get a vaccine. As of now, three vaccines are in advanced stages of development in the country, out of which two are in phase two and one is in phase three. &nbsp;

India's Scientists and Research Teams are collaborating and strengthening the research capacities in neighbouring countries such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Qatar and Bhutan have requested for clinical trials in their countries.

In fact, on vaccine development, Indian officials with counterparts from Myanmar and Bangladesh have had meetings. This has also been the top focus during the foreign secretary's visit to both these countries. During a Myanmar visit earlier this month along with Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, India gifted 3000 vials of Anti Covid Remdesivir to State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi as a "symbol" of India‘s commitment to helping Myanmar mitigate the impact of the pandemic.

For the neighbourhood, India has organised two training modules in which about 90 health experts and scientists have participated.

India was officially handed over the first of the Chinook helicopters at Boeing's facility in the presence of Indian ambassador to US Harsh Shringla during ‘India-Chinook Transfer Ceremony’ which took place at &nbsp;Boeing's facility in Philadelphia on Friday.&nbsp;

In 2015, India had placed the order for 22 AH-64E Apache attack, and 15 CH-47F(I) Chinook transport helicopters and will receive all of them in 2019. &nbsp;

According to Boeing, Apache is the world’s leading multi-role attack helicopter and CH-47F Chinook is an advanced multi-mission helicopter that can help in delivering heavy payloads to high altitudes. Both of them are also being used by the US Army.
