The ICRC said that the shelling took place near its Gaza office, which is surrounded by hundreds of displaced civilians living in tents, but did not say who fired it.&nbsp;

It also noted that this “grave security incident is one of several in recent days” as “stray bullets have reached ICRC structures” previously.&nbsp;

<h2>What did the health ministry say?&nbsp;</h2>

The Palestinian health ministry said that the Israeli forces shelled tent camps near Rafah and that the strike had “targeted the tents of the displaced in the Al-Mawasi area” which is around the ICRC base.

A report by the Associated Press citing a witness whose relatives died in one of the bombardments near a Red Cross field hospital north of Rafah said that the Israeli forces fired a second volley that killed people who came out of their tents.

Ahmed Radwan, a spokesperson for Civil Defense first responders in Rafah, citing witnesses, said that the shelling on Friday targeted two locations in a coastal area which has been filled with makeshift tents, reported the AP.&nbsp;

The location mentioned by the emergency officials and that of the Red Cross hospital is said to be just outside an Israeli-designated safe zone on the Mediterranean coast, known as Muwasi, west of Rafah.&nbsp;

<h2>‘No indication’</h2>

A spokesperson from the Israel Defence Force (IDF) said “there is no indication that a strike was carried out by the IDF” but that the incident was “under review”. However, it did not provide any other details.&nbsp;

Israel, as per reports, has previously bombed locations in the vicinity of the “humanitarian zone” in Muwasi. The has also previously said that it is conducting “precise, intelligence-based” actions in the Rafah area.&nbsp;

American forces on Wednesday (June 19) announced that they have destroyed two Houthi rebel sites in Yemen following a spate of ship attacks by the rebel group.&nbsp;

"USCENTCOM forces successfully destroyed one ground control station and one command-and-control node," in a Houthi area of Yemen, the military command announced on X. CENTCOM also took out two Houthi "uncrewed surface vessels (USV) in the Red Sea" within the last 24 hours.&nbsp;

Previously, on Tuesday, CENTCOM reported destroying eight Houthi drones.

Meanwhile, the MV Tutor, a merchant ship left abandoned after a Houthi attack last week, is believed to have sunk, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The ship, Liberia-flagged and owned by the Greeks, was hit by a sea drone and aerial projectile on June 12. A Filipino crew member&nbsp;believed to have been in the ship's engine room at the time of the attack was reportedly killed.

"Military authorities report maritime debris and oil sighted in the (Tutor's) last reported location," said the UKMTO in a security update.&nbsp;

In response to the attacks, the United States and the United Kingdom have launched strikes to weaken the Iran-backed rebels' attack capabilities. Additionally, as per AFP, an international effort has been trying to intercept drones and missiles fired at ships.

Since November, the Houthis, at war with a Saudi-led coalition after ousting the government from Sanaa in 2014, have launched numerous drone and missile attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. These attacks have driven up insurance costs for transiting vessels, causing many shipping firms to take the longer route around Africa's southern tip.
