Zohra Begum, 12, was one of several Rohingya refugees who met United Nations Security Council (UNSC) members over the weekend during their visit to the camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.

She and hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims had fled a military crackdown in Rakhine state which was launched after Rohingya insurgents attacked security posts last August.

In her meeting with the UNSC envoys whose main object was to see the aftermath of the military operation in Rakhine, she and the other refugees told them of their experiences.

Zohra described how the Myanmar military fired continuously as they entered and seized the village.

"After surrounding the villagers, they separated the men and killed them. Then they selected some beautiful women, raped them and burned their houses," she said.

"They snatched away children from the laps of women, killed and threw them into a canal. Later, when I was running away, they shot me on my upper thigh and I jumped into the canal. I was injured by a bullet, and I was floating in the water when a man rescued me," she added.

Zohra, along with her brother Khairul Amin, are the only survivors of a 16-member family. They now live with their aunt and uncle in Balukhali camp.

United Nations and rights groups say nearly 700,000 Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh so far.

Britain's U.N. envoy on Tuesday (May 1) suggested the U.N. Security Council could consider helping Myanmar collect evidence of crimes committed during the military crackdown, denounced by the world body as ethnic cleansing after most recent bout of persecution of the Muslim minority last year.

A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped repeatedly by five people for two more than months in the Gorakhpur area here, a senior police official said today.

The girl's parents approached the police last night alleging that five people, aged between 18 and 21, gang-raped their daughter, Gorakhpur Superintendent of Police Arjun Uike said.

"The parents approached the police after the news spread that the girl underwent an abortion two days ago," the official said.

When she opened it, she saw the accused forcing himself on her daughter. The video was circulated to many others on the mobile application. Later, the mother of the girl informed the police.

Moreover, the victims family are now being threatened by the family of the accused to withdraw the case and to leave the locality as they have a powerful hold in the area, reports said.&nbsp;

A brave 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by two men in 2017 got her parents booked when try tried to convince her to change her statement against the case in exchange for bribe, reports said on Tuesday.&nbsp;

The girl had gone missing in August last year after which her parents had filed a police complaint. She returned after a week and told police that she was held captive by two men who raped her.&nbsp;

The two men were later arrested. However, one of them got out on interim mail and approached her parents on April 10 hoping they would convince their daughter to withdraw the case in exchange for a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. As per reports, the parents quickly agreed and asked for an advance but the girl went to the police on Tuesday to lodge a complaint against them.&nbsp;

The victim told the police that she was in her room when her parents met the accused and heard the entire conversation. She said that as soon as the man left her house, she went up to her parents to ask for justification. Instead, they tried to convince her to give a false statement.&nbsp;

Reports say that the girl was thrashed and blackmailed by her parents, saying that they desperately needed the money. She said that after thrashing her for a while, someone came to their house to hand them Rs 5 lakh as advance money. Her parents hid that money beneath the bed and left for court.

But, the girl quickly took the bag and went to Aman Vihar police station to lodge a complaint. She narrated the entire incident to the police, immediately after which a case under IPC Sections 195 (A) (threatening any person to give false evidence), 506 (threatening any person to give false evidence) and 120 (B) (punishment of criminal conspiracy) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act was registered.

Later the mother, upon her arrival from court, was arrested. The father, however, fled as he got the news of his wife's arrest. The police are on a lookout for the man to arrest him.&nbsp;

The incident was reported to the police on Friday.

The girl left a suicide note in which she named some boys who used to misbehave with her and claimed that she was taking the extreme step owing to the harassment, the girl&#39;s family said.

Police said they have registered a case and efforts are being made to arrest the 20-year-old man, who was allegedly stalking her.

&ldquo;The accused has been identified as 20-year-old Mayank. Efforts are on to arrest him,&rdquo; DCP Rohini was quoted as saying.&nbsp;

Delhi: Girl commits suicide after being allegedly harassed by neighbour

Police today said that a 23-year-old man had been arrested for allegedly raping a teenager inside a film theatre.

According to Inspector M Mattaiah of Market Police, Kandakatla Bikshapathi, an earth mover driver, and the 19-year-old victim had gone to a theatre on January 29 to watch the recently-released film &quot;Padmaavat&quot;.

&quot;The victim has complained that she was raped inside the theatre that day and that the seats around them were vacant. The two had met through Facebook about three months ago,&quot; the official said.

He said, following the victim&#39;s medical examination, a case of rape was registered against Bikshapathi.

He was arrested and produced in court yesterday, which remanded him in judicial custody, the official added.&nbsp;

Greater Noida: Cop rapes 7-year-old girl, thrashed by locals, arrested

A 13-year-old girl who was allegedly gang-raped in Rangapani in Guwahati last week succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, reports said.&nbsp;

The girl was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and died there.&nbsp;

She was reportedly gang-raped by three locals outside her house on December 14, when her parents were not at home and was left to die.&nbsp;

The 13-year-old was rushed to a nearby healthcare&nbsp;after she was found unconscious the next day.&nbsp;

No charges were initially filed by the family. The police were only intimated once the girl was admitted to the hospital and an FIR was lodged at Sontoli police outpost two days after the incident.
