In the age of removing inequalities, Israel has decided to take a major step to give more recognition and rights to the LGBT community.

Putting an end to decades old rule, on Thursday, Israel government announced that the gay men will now be able to donate blood.

"The prohibition on gay men donating blood was a relic of a stereotype that belongs in the past,"&nbsp;Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz announced. "Any blood donor seeking to save lives will receive the same treatment, regardless of his gender or sexual orientation."

Usually someone hoping to donate blood is asked to fill a questionnaire in advance in which one question inquired if a man has had any sexual relationship with another man. That clause will now be removed, as per the Health Minister.

"The clause prohibiting receiving blood from a man who had sexual relations with another man (even a permanent partner) will be cancelled,"&nbsp;a statement from the health ministry announced.

Now the new questionnaires will now instead ask the donators if they have had "high-risk sexual relations with a new partner or multiple partners"&nbsp;in the past three months.

As of now, gay men could donate blood only if they hadn’t had sexual relationship with another man in the last 12 months.

After the health minister, who himself is a gay man, announced the new rule, the Association for LGBTQ Equality in Israel appreciated the move as a "historic move for the Proud community and the Israeli society on its way to equality".

"The blood of hundreds of thousands of citizens is not second class," the association's statement added.

Muhammed Wisam Sankari went missing on July 23 after leaving his home in the conservative Fatih district, Turkish gay rights group Kaos Gay and Lesbian Cultural Research and Solidarity Association (Kaos GL) reported yesterday. His killing has not been widely reported in Turkish media, other than in a handful of leftist publications citing Kaos GL. 
 
There has so far been no official confirmation he was killed for being gay. 
 
On July 25 his body was found mutilated and decapitated, the association said. He arrived in Istanbul a year ago after fleeing Syria&#39;s civil war but wanted to leave Turkey because he feared for his life. He was threatened by male gangs carrying knives who said they wanted to rape him, friends told Kaos GL. 
 
His body was so mutilated, he was only recognisable from his clothes, one of his friends who went to identify the body, told the rights organisation. &quot;They cut Wisam violently. It was so violent, two knives had broken inside of him. They beheaded him. His upper body was beyond recognition, his internal organs were out. We recognised our friend from his trousers.&quot; 
 
The Syrian had also been kidnapped and raped five months before his death, one of his housemates told the rights organisation. 
 
&quot;They took him by car to a forest where they beat and raped him,&quot; the refugee&#39;s housemate, Rayan, said. He added that they previously had to leave a house because they were gay, Kaos GL said. 
 
There have been no arrests, the group reported. 
 
Homosexuality has been legal in Turkey since 1923 and was also legalised in the Ottoman Empire from the mid-nineteenth century. But gays in Turkey regularly complain of harassment and abuse in a largely conservative Muslim society where open displays of same-sex love are strongly frowned upon. 
 
The authorities in Istanbul in June banned the annual gay pride march for the second year in a row, citing security and public order fears.
