Baz Lurhmann’s 'Elvis', which is running at the theatres with full force, will start streaming as a Premium Video On Demand (PVOD) on August 9 and will not be available on Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max on the same date. The film will cost $19.99 for a 48-hour rental and $24.99 for purchase. Lurhman had earlier said that the audience would have to wait till "fall" for the film to be available on HBO Max, but the studio did not confirm the same.

In terms of business, 2021 has been a disastrous year for Warner Bros., and the studio said that there will be a 45-day gap between a theatrical release and the debut on the streaming service. Even though ‘The Batman’ had grossed $360 million, it was also handed the same fate by the studio. The film had received a parallel PVOD release for $29.99.

Several factors might have weighed into the 'Elvis' strategy.

The studios' opting for the PVOD route is a result of their experiencing an immediate financial return in which 80 percent of the revenue is retained after parting with a small carrier-cost deduction. The industry’s collective wisdom on PVOD is that it has a smaller impact on the theatre's generated revenue as compared to streaming. This allows the viewer to watch the film at a cost which is comparable to a month’s subscription fee.

The same is true for Universal movies, which are typically available in theatres and on PVOD after three weekends, which enables the studio to enjoy an extended theatrical run of the film along with its non-theatrical goals as well.

The domestic box office for ‘Elvis’ might reach another $30 million. As ‘To Gun: Maverick’ and a few more are available only for theatre viewing, ‘Elvis’ can be a top pick for home audiences.

Fans were concerned about Tom Hanks's health when he appeared to be struggling to control his shaking arm earlier this month. The 65-year-old actor is currently promoting Baz Luhrmann's upcoming biopic 'Elvis' based on the greatest Hollywood star, Elvis Presley. Hanks plays the singer's manager in the film.

Luhrmann, who was born in Sydney, organised a premiere at Australia's Gold Coast, which is 50 miles south of Brisbane and where the filming took place.

Along with Hanks, Austin Butler, 30, who is playing the lead character of Elvis Presley, also attended the ceremony on June 4.

"There is no better place in the world to make a motion picture than right here on the Gold Coast". He remarked, his right hand holding the microphone and his left hand in his pocket.

Further, the actor said he has shot films in Morocco, Los Angeles, New York City, Seattle, and Berlin, among other places, but none of the places is as happening as the Gold Coast. "None of them have what the Gold Coast have, and what is that? Two words. None of those other cities have Dan Murphy," he noted.

With Dan Murphy's, the actor referred to the booze shop chain there.

"What a man," he added to cheers, "who I got to know quite well."

Hanks attempted to control his shaking right hand by placing his left hand at the bottom of the microphone, underneath his right. He even briefly switched hands.

Hanks headed back to America after the Australian premiere, where the film was played on June 11 at Graceland.

After the video clip went viral on social media, fans began to speculate on Hank’s health. A Twitter user wrote, "God forbid it could just be adrenaline and nerves!"

"He does seem like he has aged all of a sudden-lost weight," commented another user, while another Hank’s fan said, "Unfortunately his declining health points to possibly Parkinson's." "He's diabetic. This happens to my mom when she gets low blood sugar," wrote another.

Tom Hanks' shaky hand during 'Elvis' movie promotions stirs concern for his health

Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough, said Friday it was "very intense" watching the new biopic about the rock'n'roll legend, which premieres at the Cannes Film Festival next week.

Keough, known for films like 'Logan Lucky' and 'American Honey', happened to be at Cannes for her directorial debut 'War Pony' just days before the world premiere of 'Elvis' by flamboyant Australian director Baz Luhrmann.

She told an audience at the French Riviera festival she saw the film recently with her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, and grandmother, Priscilla Presley.

"It was a very emotional experience," she said.

"There's a lot of family trauma and generational trauma that started around there. It was a very intense experience." "Elvis", which premieres on Wednesday, stars newcomer Austin Butler in the lead role and Tom Hanks as his infamous manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

Despite the discomfort of seeing her family on screen, Keough said she was "honoured" that it was handled by Luhrmann.

"The first movie I ever watched in a theatre where I knew I wanted to make movies was 'Moulin Rouge!' when I was 12," said Keough. She said it was immediately evident how much effort Luhrmann and Butler had put into capturing the essence of The King.

"That made me emotional and I started crying five minutes in, and didn't stop, so I need to watch it again," said Keough. The family was involved in helping Luhrmann get access to the Presley home, Graceland, and other people from Elvis's life.

"But at the end of the day, we're not going to tell Baz Luhrmann how to make a film," Keough said.
