<p>Its sales have dropped approximately 40 per cent&nbsp;in the last two years as the contraceptive was not used by several people who stayed at home during the pandemic.</p>

<p>Citing Karex Bhd.' Chief Executive Officer Goh Miah Kait, Nikkei Asia reported the drastic fall in sales as non-essential clinics such as sexual wellness centres were mostly closed ever during the pandemic.</p>

<p>Goh said in a report that the Malaysia-based company is now moving into the booming medical glove business that will start its production in Thailand by mid year.</p>

<p>Earlier, it used to make one of every five condoms produced all across the globe. The company was poised grow at ''double digits'' before lockdowns were imposed worldwide.</p>

<p>The company, that exports condom to more than 140 countries produces like Durex along with Durian-flavoured.</p>

<p>In the last two years, its shares have dropped 18 per cent. During this period, the benchmark of Malaysia's stock index has dropped 3.1 per cent.</p>

<p>A research had revealed that six million unwanted pregnancies and two million unsafe abortions could be avoided each year by helping teenage girls in developing countries to get reliable contraception.</p>

<p>A condom brand was put in a tight spot after netizens called it out for being insensitive after they used a reference from Netflix’s ‘Sex Education’ ‘bus scene’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Durex has used the most powerful ‘Bus Scene’ from the series, about a sexual assault survivor overcoming her fear of taking a bus, to sell its product. It has now deleted the advert.</p>

<p>The scene was featured in the seventh episode of Season 2, which shows the character Aimee, played by Lou Wood, grappling with the trauma of a recent sexual assault.</p>

<p>It explores the aftermath of an incident in which Aimee was assaulted on a bus. Post that incident, Aimee keeps reliving the past with the touch of her boyfriend and is terrified of taking a bus. So, she walks to her school instead.</p>

<p>The condom brand in its advert, referred to the scene -- “It is just a stupid bus” to make sexual innuendos and promote its product. The tyre of the bus was replaced with a condom, the tagline read, “But it is one memorable ride.”</p>
