<p>The ministry in coordination with the NCEMA, also decided to close all roads leading to areas prone to flash floods, water accumulations, and dams during the weather conditions.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The recent downpour comes less than a month after the Gulf country was brought to a standstill after torrential rains brought severe flooding which disrupted air traffic in Dubai and trapped residents in traffic, in their offices and homes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On April 14 and 15, heavy rains battered the Arabian Peninsula, with Dubai experiencing the heaviest rains on record since 1949. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, at least 17 people were killed after flash floods swept through various parts of Oman on Sunday (April 14) and Monday (April 15), the country's National Committee for Emergency Management reported.</p>

<p>The state-run WAM news agency called the rains a historic weather event&nbsp;that surpassed “anything documented since the start of data collection in 1949.</p>

<p>Schools across the UAE, a federation of seven sheikhdoms, largely shut ahead of the storm and government employees&nbsp;worked&nbsp;remotely. Those who&nbsp;ventured out, unfortunately,&nbsp;ended up with their&nbsp;vehicles stuck in deeper-than-expected water covering some roads.</p>

<p>Authorities sent tanker trucks out into the streets and highways to pump away the water. Water poured into some homes, forcing people to leave their houses.</p>
